I agree about it's hard to decide between thees two. I personally thinks that X1 looks better than the pro but that's individual. The X1 has a bigger screen and 3,5 mm jack but except that they are really alike Then you have the releasedates. It seem like the HTC touch pro is coming during August but the SE X1 not before November if not later. It's a hard choice, but we love it!! My "old" P990 is ready to be replaced.

TV_Out as well, and the accelerometer, and "xda-developers" although after the launch of the X1 they should have an X1 section as well. There are already a ton of apps that have access to the accelerometer on the diamond should work on the Raphael as well. Cooked ROMs are a plus as well, many previous WM users will buy the X1 or Rapahael so compatibility of accessories(if any).
The X1 betters the Pro only where the Screen and the processor is concerned wrt to International version.
Presonally I have decided to forget both of them and get the Omnia .

@aksd:
The Omnia? What's on earth do you like about that?
It looks like TouchPro in the U.S. is going to Verizon and Sprint. The CDMA competitors to AT&T's and T-Mobile's GSM. This should be interesting now! I'm guessing the X1 will edge out the TouchPro slightly in the sales department.

Does'nt beath either the X1 or Pro on all counts although seems like a decent all rounder. I'm fed up of carrying a brick in my pocket with the TyTn II . Biggest regrets with the Omnia is the wierd screen WQVGA and the stupid proprietary connector . BTW its coming out on AT&T as well
Anyway the Pro vs X1 argument is quite pointless imo. But the Pro should better the X1 in sales as its coming out on CDMA as well as on 3G with AT&T, more versions, but usually the carrier based phones will be crippled . Anyway like I was saying they're both pretty much identical and its more of which badge you'd like to own, if it was me I definately would'nt go carrier but Sim free whichever phone I decided to buy.

Aah! I didn't think about that.

I agree. Don't the carrier versions also hit the market later?
Question: By the TouchPro having only the 7201, does that mean it is limited to QVGA video recording worldwide?
Also, is there a difference between TouchPro 3D GUI and TouchPro "gesture recognition" system software? |

It depends, I've heard that T-Mobile in EU are getting the Pro first, who can tell though.
Yes they will all be at QVGA/QCIF? at 30fps. No VGA recording for the Pro.
TouchFlo 3D = Today screen plugin
TouchFlo gesture recognisiton = TouchFlo 3D + Kinetic Scrolling(also called TOuchFlo lol, this is the TouchFlo present on the X1)+Accelerometer features + gestures in Album etc..

Thanks.
So, how did SE manage in getting VGA recording in the X1i and HTC not in the non-U.S. TouchPro?

Basically HTC must have figured its more cost effective to have the Manufacturing plant rolling out only 1 type of board worlwide as they're catering to different markets, carriers etc. The Pro is going to be more mass market than the X1, which is'nt necessarily a good thing.
The X1 on the other hand will be "elitist", a premium model. THerefore it should carry a bigger price tag at launch, will come in fancier packing etc. and you'll feel unique owning one, therefore SE can afford to pay the extra amount in using different chipsets.
Also, SE have always been considered a media centric company, they can tout the "VGA @ 30fps" as a selling point. Their makreting gurus must have figured out that if that feature was included they'd sell a lot more devices.
While HTC know that they're considered by mostly the buisness user and the number of increased sales if VGA recording was included would'nt satisfy the extra effort = cost.
Another thing is X1 is generating profit for HTC as well, maybe they felt that this would cannabalize on X1 sales and it might have been an agreement with SE not to use this feature(although I doubt this)
Anyway you can see from the worldwide sales of the Diamond that the no VGA recording has hardly affected it sales, therefore it seems more like a call from the marketing guys.
Imagine if the X1 did'nt have VGA@30fps, it would have been a disaster for SE fans who've been waiting for VGA recording for quite awhile now.

A very nice article, must read imo: http://www.smape.com/en/revie[....]sson_XPERIA_X1_C905-prev.html. The top of the experia rear portion looks to be made of platic, this is quite logical as metal hampers RF signals and considering the wide range of wireless technology implemented in the X1 this is most logical.
This article http://www.smape.com/en/news//28617.html says that the X1 is coming out Q1 2009, 6 months after the touch Pro and he looks pro SE, if that is the case...................LOL!

That's interesting. What do you think makes the TouchPro look better? The fuller keyboard? I don't know of any area where TouchPro exceeds except for RAM.
I think the the exteriors look just cool with the Touch Pro. One thing that horrifies me with the X1 is the back panel and back camera area.. Too bad that side is facing others when im on phone. And also it seems that touch pro is going to be out sooner than X1.
I honestly think it is hard to go wrong with either of these phones. They are both high end premium phones, no question about that. It is killing me to make the decision which one to buy.

My apologies.. i trusted XDA forums page for the info. Didnt want to mislead anyone.
Alternate Names: T-Mobile MDA IV, HTC Tytn III and HTC Raphael
Manufacturer: High Tech Computer Corporation
Predecessor: HTC Tytn II (Not Official)
Operating System: Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
Dimensions :102 mm (L) X 51 mm (W) X 11.35 mm (T) <--- INCORRECT!!
The real thickness is 18.05 mm. Which means X1 wins this race! Now it seems that X1 weights more on my scale.

GLBenchmarks for the SE X1 . Not impressive, similar to the Diamond.

I'm not sure what to look for. There is no X1 listed on the site. The page you linked to only shows what look like device specs to me, not performance numbers. It doesn't even show data for "PUCKO" (whatever that is ). Can you elaborate?
