hmm, i doubt it. Still, if it had been a standard connector the buyer would be able to choose if he want to use the SE or his own one. If you buy a stereoreciver, wouldnt you like to have the option to use which loudspeaker you want? I think it is prety much the same thing. And, i personaly think it is stupid, but some people doesnt, great for them!

Could these walkman phones kill the ipod (and other mp3 players)?
What do you take when you leave the house... You take your wallet, key’s and phone! Anything else is extra hassle!

Yes, I agree and the way things are going, you wont even need to take you walet anymore as you will soon be able to do all yiour purchases by phone
I think that is what SE are counting on.
They are taking on standalone MP3 players with this phone (when larger cards come out), and they are banking on people using their handset to listen to music all the time.
Just imagine: Phone, digital camera, Video camera, Wallet, Radio, MP3 player, all in a package not much bigger than cigarette box!!!
All that is missing is a TV module and that will be here before too long

@corez, I agree 100% with you, we should be given the freedom to choose any headphones we want, and not just the ones that come with the phone. Even if the ones that come with the phone is good, I'd still want the freedom to use whatever headphones i want... |

i agree you should be able to chose what headphones youwant to use as these can make a big difference to your listening experience. in my experience most bundled headphones like scart leads with tv have one place and thats in the bin |

@corex, just like you can buy a connector/adapter for the current SE headset jack -> 2.5mm they will come out with one for the new connector too I am sure.

looking at the pics off this link it looks like you will be stuck with the head phones provided as they have a special connector. so no opition to improve sound quality

Yeah man, that is crap, I have these really nice Panasonic headphones which I'd like to use instead of the ones that come with the phone. Plus, the SE headphones have a bulky connector, i prefer to standard headphone jacks
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. I Nokia N95 8GB and N82 |

Maybe the reason SE did not give us a 2.5 or 3.5mm jack is because they use more space up inside the phone, whereas the SE connector barely enters the phone - the contacts touch outside of the phones case.
Just a theory.

The headphone HPM-70 will have the possibility to connect another headphone instead of the earplugs supplied, just like it is with for instance Sony remote-earphones supplied with Minidiscs. Its a shame that i doesn´t show on the site:

you could well be right though i am sure a few extra mm could have been found.
not that i am really that bothered as i much prefer to use a cd player for portable music, they still sound so much better than any mp3 player even if they are bulky
