Those people who knows much about Sony Ericsson says it, so I just refer the preliminary release date to you.

From the SonyEricsson press release:
"The S700 will be available in Q4 2004."
So, I guess the people who do the SonyEricsson press releases don't know a shit then...

if mike van der wallen, vicepresident head of EMEA, says the same as the press releases, then he doesn't know shit either? come on, don't go doubting about official information.

By the way... I have actually seen and used this phone and it is indeed an amazing piece of technology.... Screen 256k, BT, SD card slot, MP3, 2 screens, 1Mpixel camera (picture and video).
The only two things I didn't like is Vodafone Live SW (256k colors and then a white/red SW in it??), although I don't yet know how well the SW works (bugs and so on), and the fact it is quite big (although smaller than P800).

I was not doubting the official press release, I was just to optimistic to what I read regarding release date.
I think will have S700 ready soon with or without new UIQ 3.0 which will not come until Q4 and probably a reason why S700 is planned to be released in Q4.
Is this not possible? they release S700 at the beginning of Q3 and later on an upgraded S700 with the new UIQ 3.0?
Since many other manufactures are going for built-in 1.3MPixels cam, they ought to release S700 as soon as possible if they want to stay on top.

I didn't see any mention that S700 would use Symbian UIQ. And it's highly unlikely that they change the whole OS in the phone. Of course it is possible that they introduce UIQ 3.0 device in 4Q/04, infact I would be suprised if they don't, but that's most likely totally different device. |

and for @ mckinley and orange and ah what the heck for the whole forum
i highly doubt that se wil use uiq3 in s700, even the offical pictures showed that they are developing a "normal" menu layout.. and maybe the release date is for 4q because of the lack in hardware, like for instance shortage of 1.3mp cameras considering every manafactuer is going to have one this year.....
though i still think that they will introduce a uiq3 non and touchscreen, maybe p1000 and something like t800 or whatever, but i think this won't happen until september.... |

the official pictures are showing a fake screen showing the k700 main menu. it even shows the "radio" item, feature which is of course not available in s700. the firmware of s700 is just 2 weeks old so no one can say whether it will be uiq 3 or k700/z1010-like. the firmware of s700 will be ready in 5 or 6 weeks but again, it won't be out in the market until q4 no matter how optimistic we are

For that comment about S700 size. The S700 is not Fat! I looked online on a bunch of forums and i found a pick of a side comparison of T610 and S700. Ill refind the picture and show it again |

I guess the thickness is just fine , it does a lot of things but i guess the size is just right!

Hi everybody!
I'm kinda new here but I've been reading and monitoring this thread for a week now. I kinda agree with most people that Q4 is far too late for to release the S700.
With Nokia announcing the release of 7610 in Q2, people who are waiting for a megapixel phone will probably look to that phone.
I'm not really into the swivel thing since I don't like a hidden keypad. I want the keypad on my phone to be always right there when I need it but I'll just have to live with S700 keypad since I really like the combination of feature on it. I'll just probably have to learn to reduce my texting and make more voice calls instead. |

I think K700 is not running Symbian.
Any idea on the S700.
If both these phones do not have Symbian, then they will be hard pressed to compete with the Nk7610.
