I read it on one of the Mac rumour sites but can't find the link now.

I saw a pre-release 10.4 Tiger at the Mac Expo in London on Saturday but didn't have chance to check out the Bluetooth enhancements.

The first decent opportunity for me to check out Tiger will be at the Dutch MacExpo coming April '05. I guess I'll have to be a bit more patient. But in the meantime I will dig thru the various rumour sites.

Hey people.

Having an issue with transferring stuff to my p900.

Not completely up to speed on bluetooth itself and can't find the answer elsewhere.

How can I transfer mp3 files to my p900 from itunes? Thought it might be simple but doesn't seem to be very straightforward.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Highlight the file in iTunes to send, then go to iTunes Menu > Services > Send File To Bluetooth Device...

Or,

Highlight the file in iTunes to send, and press Apple-Shift-B

very nice short cut for transferring files (apple+shift+B) thanks!

Still having an issue though. Transferring files to phone no problem but can't find them when they've gone over!

Transferred several mp3's but can't now find them on the phone to use! Any ideas?

Also. When browsing my p900 no folders come up. I'm trying to send photo's into iphoto but no luck... any pearls?

Apple have released Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.2 which "provides improvements in the update installation process and improved performance and reliability.

The Bluetooth Firmware Updater is for D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later), and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks and PowerMacs. This firmware update will improve connectivity between the computer and the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Use this updater for the modules specified above; this updater is unsupported with any other Bluetooth modules.

This also works with the Sitecom CN-500 USB Bluetooth Adapter.

@glenn

I'm not sure about your P900 file transfer problem. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Pxxx series phones, (only T68, T610 & K700).

Maybe someone else can help?

@glenn did you try restarting your phone (take the battery out) and repairing?

My PC has that problem sometimes and repairing it makes it work [addsig]

Nokia have released a nice little Mac OS X application for transferring and storing images, videos, and other files from your phone. It also keep items synchronized between your phone and your Mac.

Although designed for use with the Nokia 7280, it also seems to work with SonyEricsson Bluetooth enabled phones such as my K700i.

Download the Nokia Collector from here. (2.1mb)

The following information may be useful if you have a seemingly impossible to fix iSync problem (such as no syncing at all, or one-way syncing).

If you don't subscribe to .Mac you can ignore certain parts relating to it.

In certain circumstances, no amount of troubleshooting seems to correct an iSync-related issue. If you have found this to be the case, the following information should cover everything that you can do to reset iSync, completely removing all traces of it from your hard drive prior to reinstalling it. These steps will also clear any remnants from failed syncs with your .Mac account or between other devices you may have used.

You should ensure that all data is correct, current, and up-to-date in your local Mac OS X Address Book, iCal calendars, and Safari bookmarks.

If you have more than one Macintosh, choose one system to be the "primary" Macintosh to work with for the purposes of these instructions. Once you have completed this process on the primary Macintosh, you should then follow the steps that describe deleting files from your Macintosh, then reinstalling as necessary. However, these "secondary" systems should be set to "Erase data on computer then sync". The intended plan is to reset your primary system; synchronize it with .Mac; erase/reinstall iSync on the secondary systems; then synchronize the secondary systems with (what should then be) the correct data that would then be present on .Mac.

In iSync:

If any computers are shown as registered with .Mac in the .Mac pane, unregister them. Do not have any computers registered with .Mac before proceeding.

In the Finder:

1 If you had ever installed iSync Beta, download and run iSync Uninstall 1.0 to remove any traces of iSync Beta from your hard drive; otherwise, skip to the next step.

2 Delete the following files and folders (including their contents) from your hard drive. Note that using iSync Uninstaller 1.0 may have also removed certain components described below; if this occurs, simply skip to the next item in the list:

- /Applications/iSync
- /Library/Application Support/SyncService/
- /Library/Receipts/iSync.pkg
- /Users/username/Library/Application Support/SyncService/
- /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.isync.plist
- /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.isync.registry.plist

3 If you have used a Palm OS device with iSync and/or have installed one of the iSync Palm Conduit packages, delete the following files:

- /Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync/Conduits/Apple
- /Library/Receipts/iSync_Palm.pkg
- /Users/username/Documents/Palm/Users/username/Conduit Settings/iSync Conduit Settings

4 Download and install the most recent version of iSync from <http://www.apple.com/isync/download/>. If you have a Palm device, also download and install the most recent version of the iSync Palm Conduit from the same page.

Then, in iSync:

1 Choose Reset All Devices from the Devices menu, then select "This Computer" from the pop-up menu within the Reset All Devices window.

2 If you have handheld devices (iPod, Palm, mobile phone, etc.) that are used with iSync, add each device as necessary via the Devices menu, then perform a sync between them.

3 Register your computer with .Mac. (ignore this step if you don't have .Mac)

4 Perform a sync, including .Mac and any handheld devices used with iSync.

In your web browser: (ignore these steps if you don't have .Mac)

1 Login to .Mac Address Book. If you have used .Mac Address Book before, click the "Reset" button when prompted that a Reset All Devices has been done.

2 If you have not used .Mac Address Book before, and would now like to begin: Click Preferences, then mark the "Turn On .Mac Address Book Synchronization" checkbox. Finally, Save your settings.

3 Login to .Mac Bookmarks. If you have used .Mac Bookmarks before, click the "Reset" button when prompted that a Reset All Devices has been done.

4 If you have not used .Mac Bookmarks before, and would now like to begin: Click Preferences, then mark the "Turn On .Mac Bookmarks Synchronization" checkbox.

5 Finally, save your settings.

Hi folks,
i posted this by mistake in general topic forum:

iCal and P900:

Hi,
this is probably a very simple question but I have searched around and can't find an answer:

I am thinking of getting a p910
I have multiple calendars in iCal, work home etc etc

Does anyone have any experience in using iSync to sync multiple iCal calendars to the p910? do the events in iCal appear in the p910 with correct categories? and if you create a calender entry with a specific category on the 910, does it sync over to iCal?

If someone could try this and let me know i would really appreciate it.
this maybe very simple, i hope!
thankyou

Normally iSync will only send up to 8 weeks worth of calendar entries to the phone. Here's a tip to override that:

While the iSync preferences don't allow it to be set to higher than 8 weeks, you can change this value directly in the corresponding preferences file, which is found here: Library -> Application Support -> SyncService -> 501 -> BTConduitDefaults.plist The 501 bit should be replaced by your user id. If you don't know your user id, issue an id command in the terminal. The first value uid is yours.

You have to change the integer value of the kBTConduitDayRangeKey key. It's the number of days you like to synchronize into the future. Here's an example of the top of the BTConduitDefaults file, set for synchronization of six months' worth of events:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"
"http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<array>
<dict>
<key>kBTConduitDayRangeKey</key>
<integer>184</integer>

It seems that this value is only overriden if you select another period in the popup-menu, so simply ignore that iSync displays "8 Weeks" in said pop-up.
