It's not the direct reason, to make the device water/dust proof and with some design requirement like thin profile and the materials used in the device, they left the IR transmitter for it, they can incorporate it but this will require changes in the design and/or materials used in the phone... they have some basic requirements in the design and materials, they must meet these requirement even by removing some extra features... like for example Xperia arc, it's thin and arced design forced them to remove the front cam...

Off Topic:
Yes Samsung was innovative. Because they've had 10 times more money to innovate
than SonyEricsson.
But just a few years earlier, SonyEricsson was mega innovative between P800 and X1 or even X10.
And Samsung was nowhere at that time, just nowhere.
And than, well, big part of thier innovation was originated in Apple.
Remember iPhone ripoff in Galaxy 1? Remember court cases about patents and solutions?
But it was SonyEricsson which made unique UIQ skin, and unique WM skin - nobody had that.
They've also had - and still have - great ideas in Android's UI.
Plus Bravia engine, screen technology, cameras etc. They still innovate.
On Topic:
Yes Z puts them on track - they finally got the desired hype, and bring the desired high-tech feel.
Samsungs and LG's look like cheap cr..p compared, and it will stay like that for a long time.

38k is MRP. nobody sells at MRP. Flipkart and high street stores may sell it for 36500/37000 or so. But smaller shops you could get it for 35.5k on Day 1.
Precisely what I hope

I havent bothered to keep up with the GS4 rumours, im just waiting for it to be unveiled, all ive heard is the usual 5.1inch HD1080P SAMOLED Flexible display, possibly a 128GB variant, and then further improvements to the Multi-view multitasking and pop-up play features.
Any word on what DAC the Xperia Z uses?
Also, have any benchmarks e.g. AnTuTu, been done? Would like to know how the S4 Pro SoC manages with the 1080P displays.
Found this on XDA. I believe it's still pre-release software though
Thanks
Early days indeed, some of those scores should double once the SW is fully optimized for the HW.

Not the beast quality, my XS can do just as good.

karun & IndianDawg, very solid info regarding Z pricing & availability in India.
Availibility - March
Price - 34490 for retailers, so street price would be 35990 or 36490. MRP maybe 37990.

Hey RamU
36K seems to be a very good price for this phone. This will be the best pricing for XZ!!! But are you sure? All the international prices convert to ~43K. Do you think it will be that cheap in Indian Markets.
If Sony launches this phone under 37K, then there is no stopping Sony in becoming No. 1 in Indian Markets

Yes And I will buy from Sony Center. They will get stocks first
[ This Message was edited by: randomuser on 2013-01-14 09:20 ]
You might have to find the most famous Sony Center for that. The Sony Center near my house didn't have Xperia S in stock for quite long time. And they usually sell the phones on MRP. For a discount you might want to check out a retailer.
