Help!!
How many minutes does it take to press C while updating??
If i'm correct I did take off the battery off and inserted it back again, turn it on while turning it on I press C and insert the usb. Since then a blue color appears waited a couple of minutes and nothing happened. Tired of waiting for it I took it out on the USB cable, started the whole thing again and seems nothing happens the same thing occurs. I tried swiching it on the phone works like it do. I'm afraid that it might be dead or something while Im doing the unplugging the USB. For what instance does the phone ending up dead?

You only need to hold down the "C" button for a few seconds, until the update service detects the phone - it will then move to the next screen and you can let go of the button. |

The SEUS I used instructed me to release the "C" button after it detected the hardware. And when it detected the hardware a Windows XP bubble popped out saying "unrecognized device detected has malfunctioned". Then the download begins and when it finished, the same bubble prompt popped out again before the software was uploaded to the phone (this is unusual as I usually get the bubble just once before the download). True enough, it was a start to an unsuccessful update where it stopped uploading at 98%(so close damnit) and a SEUS prompt pops out saying it couldn't connect to the server of some sort before shutting down. I restarted SEUS and the bubble prompt popped just once after the hardware detection, and this time SEUS got me through as it always has. I hope I don't have to reflash because of this, because I've never had such an incident happen before. Has this ever happened to any of you guys, and if yes, are your phones behaving?

Yes, it's happened to me before. Windows sometimes re-detects hardware that's already been installed - it happened when I went to flash R6 actually. Despite an identical error message though, the flash went through fine first time to 100% with no problems.  |

Yes, works ok!
I am also experiencing this problem. The blackberry connection becomes active for a second and then shuts down. In the blackberry setup menu APN active comes up for a while, but it never connects. This is really irritating me as blackberry email was one of the things I used alot before I updated my firmware and it stopped working. If anyone could help get this sorted it would be greatly appreciated. I have just dropped sony ericsson an email about this issue, and will post the reply as soon as I recieve it.

Just want to say that with the latest FW R6, the phone is really reliable.
There is an email bug reported before. Shame. Yes, although I don't seem to reach the size of mail which would cause any problems.
Besides that - the phone performs really great. Yes, many things should be improved. But it's very useful and serves great in my work. Actually this, and previous FW never made any problems with performance. Adding DocsToGo and Opera Mini 4 - very useful tool.
So I'll wait for the successor based on Symbian 9.5. |

Well, since nobody was able to help me with that, I had to play around and cam up with this solution. It is because windows detects the wrong suite in that file... the suite64.exe instead of the suite32.exe. If you manually start the suite32 then it has no choice!

Bought the phone in April and updated firmware sucessfully then. It got to 92%, failed. Tried again, worked just fine. PC Suite detected my phone on XP and Vista. Good times.
Now just tried updating to R6D23 several times. Each time it got to exactly 92%. Tried closing SEUS, reloading SEUS, reloading PC Suite, restarting computer, removing anything that could remotely conflict with the USB port, using different USB port, praying. Stopped after eight (8) attempts and realizing that PC Suite was no longer detecting the phone. It doesn't like to have only 92% of an update (reboots every 5 seconds).
Spoke with a courteous SE customer service rep who agreed I exhausted most, if not all, resources at my disposal. Phone's on it's way to Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. With a little luck it will be returned in stable condition with the latest firmware. I think the P990 is an amazing device--when it's working. A friend had a '90 Chevy Berretta GT like that...

Thanks for sharing that with me. Why can't SE just devise a SEUS that just does what it's supposed to do, no weird things popping out, no phones dying out on their owners. Well my phone has been behaving as it should up to this point. Most memory I had at startup is 16.9mb and I noticed this is more than anyone else's (those posted here anyways) so far. Contrary to what others feel, I 'feel' that the memory management is a wee bit better, after almost a day playing around with opera, opera mini and and a few other built-in apps I still had 12.9mb as opposed to before when it would permanently stay around 11mb within the first day. But this is NOT EVEN CLOSE to what it should be, ARE YOU LISTENING SE? I think those who 'feel' that startup is faster has some basis, but not necessarily the case. They only feel it's faster because the time between boot time and 'phone on' has been reduced significantly to make it 'seem' faster but some of that time has been dumped in between password entry and practical use therefore almost cancelling out the speed. At least this is my experience |

Hi Makbil - plz help
See you are a doctor of P990i and plz help me to update the new firmware, my problem is when I click update service application its start downloading application update but when it reach downloading 78% (tried several time but every time same stage) it get stuck and shown plz reinstall the application or check that you are useing latest ver application where I'm using lates PC suit and updater.....
Plz suggest me what to do...
