xenon flash cannot be fit into a 12.5mm thin body (for now), you dig up that k800i flash module and have a look yourself
the t650 doesn't look bad at all, the green in live pics
http://www.se-community.com/album.php?album_id=567
nothing wrong with the back, it's just clean, like the K700
too bad they didn't show you the light effects though
but you can see some of it, on the s500 http://www.se-community.com/album.php?album_id=566

The camera module looks like the designers forgot to finish it, and have just stuck it on at the last minute?

Yeah, it was said that there'd be 3 UIQ devices today - where are the other ones? I hoped for a w950 successor... |

Sony Ericsson T650
Detail in design stainless steel casing and scratch-proof mineral glass display
Alive with technology desktop animations linked to light effects on the keypad
Without compromise 12.5 millimetre slim 3G phone with 3.2 megapixel camera and media player
Powerful by nature Advanced communications, multimedia functions and connectivity are all second nature to the T650. This slim 3G phone conceals a high performance feature set. The 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus takes excellent shots, and the 1.9-inch, scratch-proof screen makes it easy to shoot and view your pictures. The mineral glass display is placed directly onto the screen, which makes the colours more intense, improves visibility in bright environments and widens the viewing angle of the screen up to 170 degrees.
Thats sounds very expensive!!!

xumdeo,
Sony's T7 is only 15 mm with a xenon flash, and made already in 2005.
It wouldn't be a technical problem to fit one in 12.5 mm imo

As Nokia has started shipping phones with 5 mpx camera, GPS, etc.
phones?? There's one. Not many. And will prove themselves soon. Don't you think they read the forums like esato? They do. And they always try to surprise us - no one had expected the T-series rebirth. Good call, by IMO
Ok your right, phone.....but it use to be that SE was the innovator and the first to have/introduce and now not....not even close behind. SE have mostly come out with phones and very little smartphones. Maybe that's what SE is going to focus on from now on.... |

yeah i take your point, i guess they could, if there's nothing at the front (screen) or at the back (battery)
you see the T9 has its flash pushed to the rim, behind which there's no button and no screen at all (the screen is situated lower, the buttons towards the outside)
if they do that to T650, that will need some kind of compromise like the samsung X820, with the thicker camera part up there behind which there's nothing
also, the T7 is 15mm, 3 mm already makes a huge difference to a 12mm phone, imagine being able to slip just a few more circuits below... it's tough, every company just has to figure out their own way, for example the antenna on w880 took almost half a year to modify and fit in that 9mm body, and they had to put it at the bottom of the phone otherwise the SAR rate is gonna be as bad as moto L7, that's just an example

Well xumdeo, you were right, this presentation was not over the top. Just a bland collection of phones with nothing extra added. But seriously, I'm a little disappointed; no 5mp, no hsdpa , no GPS, no TV-phone, nothing really innovative or Hi End at all.
My W900 is starting to get worn out and in the last 18 months SE has had it's focus on the low and middle segment so there isn't really something to upgrade to.
