Höhöhö... Managed to get the infamous "restarted in order to improve performance" crash with the new firmware. Was playing around with themes and was tweaking the default theme and removing and installing it several times after changing it. I had just applied the final version of the theme when the phone flipped over.

I am still happy with the upgrade, though. Much faster and more stable multitasking. I hope will focus on the camera software for the next upgrade. Autofocus still sucks compared to my daughter's K750i.

This is not something to be corrected. If you use any characters outside the standard ASCII range (Codes 0-127) SMS switches to 8-bit character set, pure mathematics If you only use the standard English alphabet to write your messages and select 7-bit for SMS from the control panel, you'll get your full length SMS.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

When you go to Control Panel -> Device -> Backlight
and change options for Handheld and Car holder to Auto mobile will turn off back light even if it is in cradle.

It's working for mine with "old" R3B firmware.

@TheGuru

If you use your phone with the flip it's easy to zoom in and out and change brightness by using the 5 way button on the flip. I don't know anything about the light though....

The car-holder function still isnt working with this new firmware.

Ie. Ive got the HCH-64 holder and cigarette lighter charge installed in my vehicle, and when the phone is put into the holder it does not change to the Car holder settings.

Has anyone else managed to get this working properly yet?

Thanks

AM I RIGHT IN THINKING....

This firmware (FW) is no good for my O2 branded P990i?

If not, could anyone advise how I could get the O2 FW.

I have heard such branded FW's come out shortly after, but how would i know?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It will not work unless you get HCA-60 or similar.

One thing i`ve noticed since i`ve upgraded. When charging the phone with the old firmware,it would charge the battery in two hours and be 100%.Now with the new firmware, its been charging for two hours twenty minutes and its still only on 99%

Hey all... I'm new to the website, and love the discussion about my favorite phone. I have the updated to R7A001.

Do I have the most updated Firmware? Or should I update tonight?

Also, if I don't have the most updated and I go to Sony Ericsson's site, will this update me to the R9 update that everyone else has?

Thanks in advance for your help,
