I run opera on my p910. It came free with the phone though I has since upgraded it. it works well if a little slowly. I use the default SE browser when I just want to do a quick browse and the opera when I want to see images.
I won't be bothering with mtn gprs as some of you would have guessed :) its good to know their gprs is up though.
Next up 3G!

Been thinking about mobile manufacturers and networks. If I happen to run such companies, I'd create a R&D team and assign at least one person to monitor forums like this, so as to be able to get a feel of user and subscriber opinions and expectations.
Example: SE ougt to have someone pinned to Esato. Glo, MTN and Co ought to scour these forums from time to time too; don't you think? But it doesn't seem like they think its worth aanything. Oh, well.

@2tek: Sorry bro, don't use my precious as a GPRS modem. Would prefer 3G or ADSL to connect to the net.

I'm sure SE will have more than 10 guys pinned to esato already...
As for glo & MTN, I don't think they have the time.. but glo has a link to esato on it's wap homepage, maybe there's a glo guy here afterall.... |

Wishful thinking. The only time they get to know of what's going on is when I inform one of my pals there. Even their staff hardly use their WAP service ...or else we'd see more of them active here (since Esato is on their homepage); abi?

Guys, i have been able to browse with my sisters sim over the weekend, but am not happy my simm is not activated, i really wish it was cos i have access days till November, i have a feeling its works in sims with Lagos code, mine has Port-harcourt code, what do you think? |

The access days doesn't really matter cos the sim i'm using doesn't have access nor airtime. i'll investigate the lagos/ph thing later.

I am not sure what code my SIM has, but I do know that a friend with a new 0806 SIM has not been able to connect on his SIM. Ditto mamba.
There must be a reasonsha

just a few notes!
saw the first gprs signal on my fone about 7 wks ago. Then i had bout 10 Naira credit so i just started sending "nokia 6230i" to diff 3 digit numbers to see if i would be lucky to get the settings. then suddenly i noticed that since glo's gprs settings no. was 927-wap, maybe mtn could be 927 also. i tried it, waited for 5 hrs, still nuthin. then i tried 4777-gprs, and a reply came. 'Type settings and send to 4777" and i got a message. "Welcome to the MTN Sights and Sounds GPRS" the settings came bout 30 secs later. tried to connect and it did. i checked my inbox on yahoo, no new mail. logged out and exited. checked my account bout 30mins later and it was still 10 Naira. yeh "free browsing" i said to myself. bought myself hot suya that night and browsed till the next morning. |

"i want you all to do something, check your sim code, mine has PHC, this means Port Harcourt, it is not gprs activated, my sisters own has LAG, which means lagos and i browsed with it all weekend. If your code is Lagos, then recharge and check your browsing."

What ora2 means, Type 'SETTINGS' AND TXT TO 4777, I just discovered it too after several trials. |

Hi seun, i have not confirmed that yet, just testing, the code for lagos is LOS (my mistake), not LAG. |
