Hopefuly they dont do to OS7 users what they did to OS6 users as they said the entire range of currently available BBs wont get OS7, hopefuly QNX wont require more than 700mb RAM and 1GHz CPU, i doubt it will though, not even Android is that bloated.
I have a feeling you're right, tried thdm 8900 for a few hours yesterday and i just didnt like it, ive been spoilt by the X10s huge display, smooth touchscreen and excellent 2.3 UI, it was like i had taken a step back, but BBM is my only motivation, the X10 will remain my main phone until i upgrade to another Android next year, probably the Nexus Prime or the dual-core SE, either way my next phone needs minimum: 4.3inch 1280x720p display, 8MP camera, dual-core CPU and 1600mAh batt.

Lol, I'm not the least bit surprised. Blackberry is dull and unimaginative and if you have used other OSs then you will not like what Blackberries have to offer.
There are contradictory statements from within RIM it seems. One of their guys said that QNX requires dual-core processors while the other said from 1GHZ to dual-core so I'm waiting to hear a clear statement from within RIM.
If it is from 1ghz then the 9900 is ready but if not then I guess I will have to wait.

Just returned from SA. What an awesome time in EL and Jozi.
So Steve Jobs resigns from Apple. Eish, how do you replace a guy as good as him at the helm of Apple?

Can't believe the RIM's Playbook has just been released here in SA! I have played with it a month ago, a colleague who is a Blackberry fan bought one in the US a while ago.
@Hobbs
I just started thinking about the last time I sent a phone in for repairs and am shocked to realise that I have never had a phone break down on me. The only time I sent one was the Ericsson R320 which wasn't broken but needed a software upgrade back in 2001.
I'm sure by the time your X10 comes back you will love Gingerbread.

I find the Nokia 5800's cam performance fairly limited, but I'm quite happy with the quality of this particular pic. Check out the vehicles used... Recession? What recession? LOL:

Hopefuly its 1GHz requirement, would be realy ridiculous of them to leave OS7 users behind so early, or will the QNX and OS7 phones co-exist i wonder? As much as i dislike BBs i am excited about the QNX devices, more so than i am about Nokias WP phones, SeaRay doesnt seem all that exciting to me, what do you think?

Hope they take great care of your X10, luckily it doesnt seem like a very complex phone to take a part and put back together, they will probably fit a new motherboard on yours too, they got my X10 on a Thursday morning, the following Monday they were done. Only prob is that your IMEI will be different, and even that isnt such a big deal.

Got an SMS this morning.
'Good day.Your handset is ready for collection from Vodacom Repairs Greenpoint.'
Excited, left work early. While driving back to Cape Town I thought to myself,a Job number was allocated to a technician at 13h00 on Saturday. They close shop at 13h00.Got an SMS at 10h21 this morning. That gives that technician 2 and a half hours to have fixed my phone.Hmmmm, something not adding up here.
Get to the shop and they give me the Despatch Note.
WARRANTY REPAIR TYPE-Software Upgrade
REPORTED FAULT-Phone randomly re-booting when connected to the internet, menus and/or applications slow and sometimes hang/freeze temp.
PARTS USED-Quantity:1 PART NUMBER:Adjustment DISCRIPTION:Adjustment
All excited, inserted SIM and switched on the phone.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
No wonder its working smoothly. The technician had wiped off my Gingerbread 2.3.3 and installed Eclair 2.1 update-1
What a hoot!
What the hell do you say to that.Technician says Vodacom doesnt have the Gingerbread update. They only have the Donut 1.6 software.(WTFing Hell,he had installed Eclair 2.1 and doesnt even know the difference)
Told him what the hell did he think was on the phone when I handed it in on Saturday.Gingerbread 2.3.3 with the Vodacom bootscreen.
How do you argue with someone like that.Im sure if you poked your head around the corner into the technicians office you'll see a troop of trained orangutans working away on our phones.
Left it there and hopefully Round No 2 will be the end of it.

thats madness, glad you gave him a piece of your mind Hobbs, he finaly met that very customer who shouldn't be f***ed with, hope they sort it out properly, they should just switch the motherboard and be done with it.

I bet those BMWs aren't limited to the standard top speed. Nice way to police!

Honestly, I am not looking forward to Nokia's Windows phones. Nokia are the one manufacturer that can turn on the heat in terms of a stunning device but they have fallen so behind over the years since the N95 that I doubt they will push the envelope with the 'Microsoft' phone.
I am more than excited about RIM's new platform. I am really looking forward to their QNX Bold, hopefully it will be the exact same size as the 9900 or maybe they will update the 9900 to QNX. If they update the 9900 then I am getting it without a doubt.

Now I seem to be in a reboot loop with Vodacare repairs.Got another SMS yesterday to say I can pick up my phone.Got there, they had re-installed Gingerbread, the Despatch Note says all is fine, stick in the SIM,load up browser, load GSMArena webpage, half way loaded,BAM,reboot.Run Facebook app,BAM,reboot.Phone switches on,Reboot.Time for my X10 to head on to Advanced repairs me thinks. These Level 1 and 2 techs are giving me a headache.Told them this doesnt seem like a software problem anymore, but hardware related and to send my phone on to the Advanced repairs division.Looks like my phone is taking a trip to your part of the woods Tsepz. If the truth be told when I first installed Wolfbreaks Gingerbread, I installed CPUSpy and when I checked,my phone was constantly running at 997mhz and not the usual 267mhz.Im thinking maybe its that but I aint saying much to these guys cause this X10 has been seriously tinkled with and Im acting DUMB.ROM,whats that? FLASH,sorry..you've lost me.lol Not stressed about any of this anymore. It must just get fixed.

Lol Hobbs, our X10s were doomed from the very beginning, we both own units from the 1st batches which all seem to have faulty motherboards, the CPU sitting at 997mhz, reboots and faulty charging/usb port are very common, some have had all those issues at once.
Glad they are sending up, probably sending up to SSS Cellular in Boksberg, thats where mine went, they know what they are doing.
Since my K850 i stopped dealing with Vodacare, i go straight to the manufacturer, with thdm X10 SE-SA on twitter said i must email their PR person, Ronelle Hendriks, she then got DHL to pick my phone up, drop it at SSS and then return it to me, i thought there would be a SSS Cellular in CPT to, they are the official repair company for SE.
