Id say take it in Hobbs, there's definetly something wrong there, sounds like its faulty hardware you're dealing with.
At the same time, isnt that what happens when you flash an incompatible baseband? Could just be your BB, did you flash it all back to stock SE 2.1 before loading 2.3?

I flashed it back to the original Vodacom 1.6 Donut firmware so I could update when Vodacom released Gingerbread.The baseband is correct-2.1.71

LMAO, Tsepz & Kryptik, ya I'm going to have fun teasing about that with the staff when I get back to work in a few weeks' time.
The nearest riot area was fairly close to my work, but fortunately we stay in a sleepy dorpie about 11 miles outside of Greater London. There's usually more going down my left nostril than in Hornchurch.

It's quiet here these days.
@wanqs
Glad to know you and yours were not terribly affected by the riots.
@Hobbs
Hope you get sorted with your phone boet.

I see you're giving iOS fans a hard time over at M-R. I laugh every time you take a stab at them. Watch it cause I may be using the iPhone 5 this year
Those travel advisory and Mugabe comments cracked me up!

Wanq
Thats realy good then.
Dup
lol, you know i used to enjoy going to M-R and reading many of their posts good or bad, but in the past few months they have been so bitter and all anti-Android as it has made mince meat of their OS choice, i got sick of it, i love a good debate but all those guys do is troll, and they absolutely hate it when you point out negatives in their OS choice, so it makes for some good fun poking here and there.
My main issue is actualy with the two WP users synn and ud, their attitudes and fanboyism makes me |

I haven't paid much attention on ud but synn...
Man, I just can't stand his patronising ways. To be honest with you I also am losing interest in those forums cause all they do, like you said, is troll. They sound like women complaining and nagging (glad this SA thread has no women folk or I'd have some angry women on back with this comment)
I still think esato is pretty decent compared to quite a few sites. I have just become a member of Crackberry (in anticipation of getting myself a Blackberry) and being there gives me headaches.

Even the debates here at Esato are way more civil, i think part of what makes M-R so hostile is Elder Murtazin, he's pretty much set the vibe there, when he was Pro Symbian you had tons of arguments between Symbian Nokia users and SE Java OS users, and now he is Pro Android so ynu have lots of Android vs. (iOS, WP, Meego etc...) arguements.
I can imagine, are there a lot of arguements and fanboyism at Crackberry though?
Funny thing is that XDA Developers you have WM, WP, Android and iOS forums yet not much hostility, except between ROM cooks.

You're so right about the negative effects of Eldar on M-R.
Crackberry is full of fanboyism it is unbearable and unbelievable!
You get very few people who use their brains and discuss issues but the rest will eat you alive if you say anything against their beloved RIM. I've actually written a few scathing posts about RIM and Blackberry but thus far haven't caught flack from the fanboys, actually, a few people liked what I wrote.
If it wasn't for the portrait QWERTY and touchscreen I honestly wouldn't look at Blackberry. I have learnt to tolerate my 9700 but I don't really like it.
I try my best to be objective about something I like and not be blinded by my love for it. You know how I have criticised and continue to criticise SE despite it being my number one favourite brand, that goes for everything else I like and I hate it when people act out of fanboyism.
You just reminded me, I am a member over at XDA as well. I haven't been there in a while. Yes, I also think they are not bad as well.

Sorry about that Hobbs. You were thinking about taking it in, that seems to be your only option at the moment.

Dups Going to try one more thing before sending it off.Going to Vodacom 3G Lounge tomorrow and asking them for a new simcard and then going to do a repair via PCC.If that doesnt work they can try fix this Gingerbread issue.

I may be joining you at CrackBerry, due to peer pressure (something im generaly immune to) i will be getting a BB, my mum is getting a new one in October so i asked her to give me her old 8900 Curve so i can use it for BBM, all my friends are using WhatsApp because of me its getting out of hand lol, so had no other choice, as i definetly am not waisting my upgrade or saved up money to buy a BB, although i came alarmingly close to getting a Torch through a friends "contact" but it just didnt make any sense, and id be screwed if it was faulty.
Hobbs
Eish, i hope you're able to sort it out soon, if you can try find out if there is a SSS Cellular in Cape Town as they are the ones who repair the SE Phones in SA, things should go quicker if you go straight to them.

My problem is that I'm a QWERTY addict and I have not too many choices when it comes to P1i-esque devices.
I also find that the P1 keypad is the best I have used on a phone thus far, my 9700 just doesn't compare. SE screwed up by dumping that keypad, it truly is amazing once you get used to it.
I am waiting for RIM to confirm or even deny that the 9900 will be upgraded to QNX cause that is what has made me think twice about getting it even though I love its specs (for a Blackberry, that is). If they say no to it getting QNX then I will wait for their QNX enabled Bold Touch. I loved playing with their tablet and I felt the new platform offers better usability than OS 7.
I have a feeling you are not going to like using the Berry, I know I am getting one for the keypad and touchscreen but if it has QNX I will start enjoying Blackberry.

Hard luck, Hobbs. If it's any consolation, think about you getting back an X10 with Gingerbread. It will feel like a new toy.
