PA just said that LG G4 Pro will use Snap 820 and might be announced around October

Will Sony abandon IFA and release the next Flagships at the same time?
Edit: It might not be true after all.....
According to a post found on Chinese social media site Weibo, the LG G4 Pro will feature a 5.8-inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution.......

I'm still hopeful that Qualcomm got their stuff together and bumped up the 820, but there have been no reports of it sampling earlier, technically it should start sampling as early as next month but it can even be later.
Have faith Stedus.
I saw the LG G4 pro info on gsmarena this morning but they did not have a source to the original Weibo post, would be good to see that post in order to confirm is late october was mentioned as on sale date or just announcement.
If the 820 will make it to devices late this year, oct/nov, then Sony should wait with their main 3 devices. Launch at ifa the mid-range lavender and E56xx model and wait till later to do their own show and launch the Z5 family all at once, main, compact, and phablet.
One question, 27MP camera, who is producing such a sensor? Toshiba?

Given Qualcomm's reputation atm, I fear that the Snap might have some kind of bugs again, since Qualcomm is trying to get rid of the 810 and rush in the 820...
Even there was a post about it on weibo.... I don't trust it that much since, It is just a single post.....

Sony is not going to launch anything at ifa. it is just announcements. with this report about lg and if qualcomm is going to ship s820 as early as next month (start of second half) then sony could announce devices with s820 at ifa and have enough time to test it until a november launch which is the expected launch period according to the leaked emails and other sources, so s820 devices this year can't be ruled out completely. with that said, any other scenario like new flag announcements after ifa in 2015 is a bit wishful thinking because it goes against all sources info of november launch, it is not typical to sony at all, they are slow to launch devices after they announce them, it would be pretty silly since note 5, iphone 6s and other devices will be already on the market selling like bread and they will definitely won't announce ultra and compact at ifa and then 1-2 months later announce the main one.

Another brand cannot fulfill my needs at all.
Get a Z3. It'll be cheap at this point now, and its a very good device. Waterproofing, above average camera, class-leading battery life etc. |

^^ Above average camera? It's way below average for 2014 flagship. |

I think he's referring to the general phone market by above average. |

See what I mean...? But if they skip IFA, it's okay.. I'm not getting any new phone other than Z3, though.. I'm waiting too long for a true phone/flagship from Sony.. |

@XYZ - i was looking into getting a Z3 as i've dropped my Z1 so many times it's beginning to show signs that some of the circuitry inside may have been damaged. ha. But the Z3 is still going for about $500 USD as far as I have seen. That's still too pricey for me I'd pay ~$300 for an intermediate replacement.

Yeah, I was on the same boat. The last straw that broke the Z1's back was my vacation to Italy last month. My phone fell and cracked the screen, which caused the upper left corner to stop working. Later on, the crank got bigger extending to the right side, causing a third of the touch screen to stop working. Was really considering the Z3, then heard the Z3+, but due to over heating I didn't bother. Ended up getting an Asus ZenPhone 2, you should check it out, fits your cost requirement, . Now I'm happily waiting for the Z5 family to be announced. |

@MNX haha.. wow. yea, my Z1 is still working pretty well for the most part. Things are falling off (the ring around the power button and headphone jack) and flaps aren't staying closed but it still works. I have an issue with the SD card not always working, but i'm not sure if it's the card of the mechanism that reads it. probably the latter due to all the dropping. I am eagerly waiting for the Z5 series to be announced and if there are a lot of big upgrades, i may be tempted to go for it. I had initially planned to keep my Z1 for at least 4 years, but all these drops are making that goal seem impossible.

@moogoo Same here, was planning to keep it a while, but unfortunately those drops and whole slew of other things. The first to go was my power button, it got 1/3 depressed and became stiff. The speaker grill at the bottom came off due to the glue constantly being melted from the heat. Then my gasket came loose on my usb port causing the port to not close. After that the ring on the 3.5mm port fell off.... After all this, that's when the drop happened, haha. Seriously though, I hope that the new Z5 or whatever it will be called, aren't plagued with these build issues.

@MNX - agreed. Those little touches are nice and all, but they should be attached in a way that it won't just fall off with use! My speaker grill is dented and warped from my drops ..
I am with you on the Z5. I remember we were in the Z1 search/purchase boat together back then, and I assume we will be in the same boat with the Z5, if it turns out to be everything we want and more.

Wasn't the Z3+/Z4 supposed to use this updated version? I swear I saw a post somewhere about it using the updated processor.
edit found it, if it is using the v2.1 and it still overheats, don't think the issue was solved?
