There was a shortage of Sharp Full HD panels so they decided to use lower quality JDC panels (which weren't even ready) in demo/review and few unlucky retail units.
Probably Sony don't care about reviews ?  In any case, it didn't affect Z sales much. So it's not that bad after all. 
Also LATER JDC panels are also good quality, same as the Sharp panels.

i think its time SONY changes the grey/black "dark" theme for their UI all together.the dulness the dark theme brings is what kills itself esp. against the cheerful theme of the Galaxy's.
I hope they will NEVER change this nice and classy black/grey design in favour of this
disgusting, tasteless crappy Samsung design lol.
Samsung has the worst looking design since the beginning, it's the plastic eye candy trying to copy apple.
You can't even compare these.

Opposite to what reviews say, Z DOES perform the automatic widget reconfiguration!
You just have to place the widget over the other and wait 2 or 3 seconds (!!!)

Exactly! The 2011 Xperias' UI was so much better and I just can't find any valid reason for their decision to ditch it...

I`v got white SXZ with SHARP screen and it was not even close to my SXTX. Poor view angles and low contrast. And it is not faulty unit. It looks like big Arc screen with extra high DPI. And camera totally cr..p at 434 firmware. I hope Sony fix it. At SXTX after update to JB camera was much improved. 2Gigs of RAM is cool no doubt. |

I told you, that here in Germany we have both types of display, Sharp and JDC, but both looking same sh***.
The quality looking worser than my old ARC. It really making no fun to look at it. And the display of ION is thousand miles far away... And the XS display is also better. It really hurts, cause I love Zs design so much...
BTW I have installed a CM10 ROM with XperiaStyle on my Arc S, also with the grey UI from Z, but the grey UI looks beautiful on the Arc!!!

You can't compare two ROMS now and judge the display according to it.
Arc & XZ both must have 2013 Sony Stock UI and then see the comparison.
Also Randomuser posted a detailed images about the XZ display, have a look at it!
