Thats funny Tsepz. Its incredible how clueless some of these people are.Dont even know why theyre working in the industry. Bring on the Gingerbread man! Wouldnt mind a custom version though just in case the official isnt as speedy.Lets hope something gets cooked up soon.Did you see Bin4ry has stopped his work on the X10.Hes getting a DHD.And my opinion on the opening of the bootloader, nobodies mentioned it but I think Geohot played a small role in them making that decision.Sounds stupid I know but with him mentioning that he wants to be one of the first to open it they thought hes gonna eventually do so lets not give him the limelight and just face the inevitable.Whatever the case, good move.

So I decided it was time to S-off my desire.....however ended up semi-bricking it..... spent a day trying to fix it....finally decided to flash stock rom ....it got unrooted and lost all dat coz the backed up rom was corrupt.

after installing custom rom, I rooted it again with unrevoked, tried to S-off it again and succeeded

funny how obsessed one is with all these custom roms lol....

im running CM7 Rc4, alpharev S-off

True Zani.Ive only used one custom ROM and have never needed to look elsewhere. The FreeX10 Beta 4 2.2.1 Froyo is perfect for me.As soon as they release a stable, fully working Gingerbread I will definitely be trying that.I just love the speed of this custom ROM.Both Tsepz and I tried going back to the official 2.1 and both ended up re-installing 2.2.1.Me in less than 24 hours. Was just so sluggish compared to what we have now.Have fun.

Indeed Hobbs, i wish our networks and manufacturers would find some compitent employees who are always upto date and have some knowledge of the industry, so sick of these idiots.
I would also jump on a complete Gingerbread ROM, i'm growing super impatient to try it out
Geohot does seem to have been a catalyst in the bypassing of the bootloader, it seemed as though the devs had given up untikt Geo popped up, glad its been finaly done though, bring on the custom kernels with ROMs!

Zani
oh man, i know what you mean, the word Data2SD will forever bring shivers down my spine, i bricked my X10 and also had to load stock FW then flash a custom ROM again, and Hobbs said it all. Its addictive, im using Cyanogen 6.1.3 v054 by Wolfbreak, he is always updating his ROMs, updated to v054 today after having updated to v053 last week, i realy like they Cyanogen settings , and his tweaks, the thought that i could have waited for the N8 last year and missed all this is just scary, Android is just too sick.

EDIT: this whole time i keep saying TripNRaVeR when its actualy Wolfbreak, the 1st Cyanogen ROM i tried was by Trip but the rest have been Wolfbreak. Trip's ROMs use MIUI.

Samsung just updated the CPU of the galaxy II to 1.2 Ghz! this phone is a beast! I like the HTC evo 3D mainly coz of developer interest on the HTC brand and HTC pushes updates quicker compared to other manufactures....

So good to see SE pushing so hard, its amazing how their image has almost been completely changed in such a short time thanks to them listening to customers, people who never considered SE's in the past are now buying the Arc or Play instead of waiting for the dual-core droids, never thought i'd see the day where SEs were being praised outside Esato .

Zani
, incredible, the Galaxy-S II reminds me of the N95 in its day, the spec sheet is just mouth wattering, it has EVERYTHING (well except xenon flash), and to think we only see its true potential in Android2.4, i cant wait, it has got me thinking what on earth i'll be upgrading to in June next year??? Quad-core 1.4GHz??? The hardware is evolving so fast not even the software can keep up.

Tsepz June next year. Its going to be awesome.Im still not sick of my X10 so the wait is not going to be a killer.Still so much to be done with this phone.Once those devs have got all the testing done and dusted and start releasing the goodies that we have all been waiting for then the fun begins.Been popping in everyday to see if theres any big news but nothing as yet.

Been very busy, H.

We're finally on holiday and jetting off to Canada later today for a break with the better half, for a week and a half. First time I'm going there. We'll be just outside Toronto, a place called Burlington. Quite keen to see what the cellphone scene's like there. The 5800 and P1i are both coming with.

@ Tsepz:
LOL, yeah, and their ad campaigns of late are the biggest I've seen for a long time. There's billboards with Arc and Play on, more ads in mags and papers, etc. Making those handsets around Android has really saved .

Did anyone here in Jhb enter the Free Nokia E7 early bird competition where the 1st 100 people to bring their old Eseries to Vodaworld would get a free E7 on the morning of 16th April (today)?
Seems it quickly turned into a major PR disaster, check the comments from when people arrived this morning: http://ringaz.nokia.co.za/mob[....]ird-catches-the-free-nokia-e7/ was tempted to take the E51 there, but i just had a bad gut feel about it and didnt bother, seems i was right not to go, hope those people who did get some sort of compensation as it looks it was handled very badly.

Anyone interested in Windows Phone here?
Here's a link to the MIX11 event, its 2hours long but the 1st 45-50mins are realy interesting: http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/MIX/MIX11/KEY02

Left me a little underwhelmed, as Android already has many of those things, the Live Agents feature is realy sweet though, but the rest is nothing realy new, im a bit put off by its UI, too much black, and a waste of screen real-estate by the large text and over sized widgets (LiveTiles), wonder what Nokia will add to it.
