I do believe Sharon is some kind of sophisticated spambot/person. If you look at her/it's other posts, they're all just tangentially adding to the conversation (in a sometimes confused way), while adding in a link to one of two dodgy websites...

Hi there,
This article is with regards to release date of X1 since no one believes that it would be launched in Sep'08.

@micks2005
That was leaked back in May and a lot has happened since then so the reliability of that quote is suspect to say the least. It's not anything i would rely on same as the T-Mobile shop in Kingston having correct information above what the Network itself says. Really we all just have to wait for an official it's shipping notice from SE or a Network or retailer actually having it in stock.
But it does look like the HTC Touch Pro will be available early August as stated in the latest Expansys news letter. So only a week or so to wait for that one.

Yeah, that Handango quote was reported in this thread ages ago. It's believable, but, you never know...
I wonder if the Touch Pro will even be released in the U.S. though? |

Hi all,
Just seen in my latest CNET Newsletter an interesting story about what phones are coming to UK operator 3 including the X1 due in November. which can be read here
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39029453,49298262-6,00.htm
So at least one UK network will be stocking the X1 and with 3's great data deals and cheap pricing on a 18 month contract. This may be the boost the X1 needs as many will be able to get one at a reasonable price on contract now.

Three months behind the Touch Pro, if the August rumours for the HTC are to be believed - and the Touch Pro should hopefully benefit from some of the bug-fixing going on with the Diamond, and be a reasonably stable release out the door.

OK, so it seems November for the X1i. Can we still assume Sept/Oct for the X1a in the U.S. ? Any clue as to where in the world TouchPro is going to be launched (U.S., Europe, Asia) ? |

US is usually later than EU. The TOuch Pro will be released on AT&T, a leaked AT&T firmware is out. The TOuch Pro is going to hit the market between Aug 4 to Aug 30th, first EU and then the US.

Hmm. Being that the X1 is first and foremost intended as a North American device, I would think SE release it here first, breaking tradition.
Is there a specific American version of the TouchPro being released? They're frequency specs don't totally match AT&T network. Meaning, there are some areas of the country where the TouchPro simply won't work, according to it's specified frequencies. |

Why is X1 foremost intended as a North American device? I thougt that this phone was going to launch all over the world with small local adjustments. As in the "i" for Europe and "a" in America......
Someone bring me up to date?:-)

I believe it's because SE wants to make inroads into the WM and U.S. markets. Yes, it will be released worldwide, but the U.S. is a specified target.
