Windows XP has not crashed, rebooted, or did weird stuff since I installed it on my Tecra. No games on this installation, though i have tons of development stuff. |

@GOwin ... there is no real stable OS. even linux and unix. it just so happen that linux and unix have a lower level of hardware interface to the different devices of your computer as compared to windows. windows opted to be programmer friendly. providing apis (at the same time using the said apis) to other program. this "feature" made windows vulnearable to hacking and crashing. have you ever tried installing a new device to linux? that would be a nightmare sinced you have to recompile the kernel for that. as compared to windows that is plug and play.
the choice is yours which trade-off you chose. personally, i'll to mac os X (linux base). |

@migueltan, smart's gprs has it's own share of ups and downs. i've been using it since december and before i got the MMS upgrade i already logged 1.3 gigabytes of total data transfer. since i got the MMS upgrade, my phone with smart gprs is rock solid. right now my data counter is showing more than 80 megabytes of data transfer (since the upgrade). |

well that was what i meant...
win 98 IS stable as far as running PC games are concerned. be all end all.
did not know we should be particular on semantics here...

@pogie, i will correct you. low level interfaces in windows are done by HAL. |

@arnold ... but rarely, i mean rarely does HAL is used by windows programmers except for those developing device drivers. but also windows made it easier for device driver developers by providing DDK and invoking mini-drivers. only few developers use native drivers, for those speed-critical devices i suppose. |

All these high tech jargon! Confusing! Just go get a vibrator would excessive use of vibra damage the earpiece that'll make you say , "come again?"

come to think of it, has globe ever (or will globe ever) formally announce that they will bleed us GPRS users dry come end of June. I guess they should do this to be fair to their subscribers.
