Got use a iPhone4 today as one of my aunts got herself one. Its one gorgeous thing in real life, and it looks and feels so classy due to the glass and metal combo, had my X10 and the 3GS side by side with it. The "Retina Display" is simply magnificent, not that much better than the X10's display though, but lots better than the 3GS display. The camera is so fast and smooth and takes some great pics, the camera UI of my X10 felt so sluggish compared to the iP4's. its just amazing how Apple manage to get the software and hardware to work so well together as it makes the whole experience wonderful. What i didnt like was the lack of "palm friendliness" the sharp edges and weight of the iPhone4 make it quite difficult to hold for long periods of time especially if you do a lot of web browsing and texting, 3GS feels alot better in hand. Overall though a sweet device, i prefer my X10, but i wouldn't mind a iP4 at all.
Here some pics:

Nah, I'm BMW and Porsche for life. Unless the guys at BMW lose their marbles, which won't happen, and drive the brand to ground then Audi would be my second choice.

Well, the honeymoon phase with Opera 5.01 is over and it is irritating me too often. I keep reloading pages so much and at time there is an equally irritating lag that it is driving me nuts

To think that I uninstalled Bolt cause I found it unusable after trying this new Opera. I'm considering re-installing Bolt again or maybe use Opera mobile that I last used ages ago.

Yep, indeed Dups,Opera Mini realy can be frustrating to use, i hoped the Android version would be better but no, neither is the iOS nor the WM versions, all share the same annoying issues.
Lately it has stopped loading topics in HowardForums for me, if i do HTTP it doesnt load the topics, set it to Socket and it will load them for a second then give me this white page with "OOPS!" written at the top, it does this with a few other pages to, on both X10 and 5800.
Bolt must be the best 3rd party browser ive ever come across, i cant wait til theres an Android version, its UI sux but it loads pages so well and is so stable.
I swear, everytime Opera make a new version it gets worse, i miss good ol' 3.1.2.
Is Opera Mobile10 available for UIQ Dups? I think Mobile is better but it can be slow and is such a resource hog, my 5800 never like OM10, would use it for like 15mins and would already be fed up lol.

Absolutely Tsepz_GP, Opera is getting worse with each new version. I also miss the old versions that were more stable and better at usability.

No, Opera mobile 10 was never released for UIQ, I installed the 9.5 when it was released back then and hardly ever used it. I found it to be somewhat slower and too much of a resource hog but right now I'd rather have a browser that works properly even if it means it will be slower than the Mini.

I agree on Bolt having one ugly UI but I'm going to reinstall it again and see if I can get used to it or maybe alternate between it and Opera Mobile.

I'd also recommend UCWeb, thats what i use when im sick of OM and its crap, you can get it here: wap.ucweb.com ,it does Fit-to-screen browsing pretty well, what i suggest though is if it seems slow you must erase the Proxy and port numbers in the access point you use.

It realy isn't bad at all, considering its price, SE's rep which was almost completely ruined last year with the Satio's early FW, the X2 being a flop, X10 running 1.6 etc... Im suprised it even managed to make the top10, it makes you realise the high contrast between what we "the geeks" and "the average user" think, most wont even care about the OS version is, and if you forget about the OS version you realise the X10 is up there with the best of them.

Just tried UcWeb and I honestly don't know what to think. I am adjusting to Opera mobile which is actaually not bad if you overlook its slowness.

Oh, what's up with all the spelling mistakes on UcWeb? One thing about is it is relatively fast.

Nah, haven't seen the weezy one, but I heard about his syrup addiction, lol, wonder how he is doing in jail...
Sweet IP4 pics there, as much as I don't like the Iphones, the Samsungs, the Motorolas and the Blackberries, I'd still like to poke the IP4 about...

I'm having trouble with Bolt, since you've used it for quite a while I hope you can help. I re-installed it again and it is working fine except for one thing, it doesn't switch to mobile view. I select the option and it accepts but it just doesn't switch to mobile view on my P1i. Do you have any ideas? Thanks.

Gola
Thanx bro, yeah, same here, too bad about the antenna issues though.
Dups
Im not too sure, when you finish setting it up do you click Save? If so then i suggest clearing the Cache and History, and restart the app. Which version are you using? Java?
All
Had a close call, im at my dad's for the weekend, i was playing with my 3yrld baby sis, shes at that point where they press every button and throw anything and everything, my poor X10 became a victim of her sudden craze, i was setting up the wii so she can leave me alone, like an idiot i left my phone sitting alone on the table, she went straight for it, it was like a horror movie, she picked it up and with all her might threw my X10 against the wall, i swear i died the moment i saw it hit the wall battery cover flew off, at 1st i was too scared to pick it up, fearing the worst, had this image of that beautiful screen cracked, i then picked it up to see what might have broken, luckily the screen was fine, it seems that it hit the wall with its back, and because of that the metal/chrome rim has snapped on the top right at the back, its hardly noticeable, but i can see the part of it, where it curves has risen a bit, and with a crack in the middle, but like i said, hardly noticeable, good to know its a well built phone, but wow, that has realy tought me to be more careful, nothing would be worse than a phone breaking due to negligence just a few months after getting it.

Sorry about your X10, at least it is still functioning and the damage wasn't that extensive. I have a niece who's over a year old and I know exactly how these little ones are. I never left my phone near my daughter when she was still a baby either.

Tried your suggestion on the browser and nothing changed. Yes, I am using the Java version. I am currently using UCWeb and am starting to like it. The bloody Opera 5.01 decided it didn't want to load any pages instead telling me to check my network settings. It's the second time it does this.

Ya i think im going to keep it in my pocket whenever im not charging or using it, im hardly ever near little kids so its quite an adjustment when i come here, you realise you simply cant leave things lying around at all, lol.

Im glad you're starting to like UCWeb, its a good browser, still rough around the edges but its getting there slowly. Its made by some Chinese guys, who always make the Chinese version 1st then translate it (not always so well) to English.
Im going to have to wait until im at home (tomorrow) to try the java version on the 5800, and then i'll let you know what could be wrong, it should be showing pages in Mobile, Mobile view in UCWeb is named Adaptive mode/or view, so just make sure its set to that, unless they changed its name to Mobile?
Yep, i get the same annoying message with Opera Mini, it will do it even if the signal and connection are fine sometimes, restarting is the only way i found to get around that.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that.

I think, however, we've got our lines crossed or I didn't quite explain myself clearly, the UCWeb browser is 100 percent okay but Bolt isn't. Bolt is the one that doesn't allow me mobile view.

woah, how on earth did i read that as ucweb? Sorry about that Dups, lol. I found the same issue in Bolt, what i did notice is that when set to Mobile it doesnt display website ads, and thats about it, so i guess it simply loads less data in the same view when set to Mobile.

It's okay Tsepz, I suppose I'll have to get used to the way Bolt handles sites.

So, what are you all thinking of 8ta from Telkom?

Personally, I think more competition is good. I think they have great pre-paid call and sms rates. Their data rates are competitve but on lower priced bundles whereas on higher ones they lag slightly behind the Voadcom and MTN.

I'm looking to see what their post-paid rates are like. I have a feeling they will deliver extremely competitive rates. Four mobile networks are the maximum IMO, South Africa's market is a little saturated and 8ta will have to work very hard to try and catch up to Cell C.

I also like their name, something completely unique and South African in the mobile arena. Good luck to them as a new entrant in a tough market.
