Someone tried that, they said they managed to get gta to fit on a 512, but it still didn't work.

as of now Gta requires 2.00 psp and the UMD ( for obvious reasons)
the encoding the media is AAC....................only 2.00+ can do

It appears that it has nothing to do with the audio/video codec (some people have ripped the audio/video placed them into other games and have got them to work) it apparently is down to the prx files
They need checksums to be decyphered that are only found in the 2.00 firmware
So the latest thinking is that the only way to get it done is to have a loader (at present none of the loaders support the running of 2.00 firmware within them) that can load the 2.00 firmware dump and then use the firmware to decypher the codes in the prx which then should allow the game to start through the loader
This is of course all speculation and i could be completly wrong
EDIT ; There is a new game which also will only work using the 2.00 firmware The Hustle: Streets of L.A so it looks as though this may become the norm

gta lcs just arrived, and its got the firmware 2.00 update on it. it wont play without updating the firmware.

pre-ordered it off of gameplay.co.uk. Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi arrived a day early also a couple of weeks ago, and my psp came at 8:30am September 1st, so in my opinion gameplay is the best uk site for games.

Just had a look and clicked on the PSP skins link. Says theres nothing available. Same when you click on the Nintendo DS skins link.
