You're right. I'm wrong.
No one is going to be bothered with this overpriced rebranded HTC. SE is delaying it's release to make everyone THINK they are making something special. Ultimately, when released, the X1 will be a huge let down because people will realize it's just another typical WM device. They waited for nothing.
Now, did I say that well enough???
Works for me

Cut the faff guys when is it gonna be out? *Hello* Sony Ericsson? Or still there is network problem? lol
My guess is late September/ early October. No one seems to know. One thing is for sure though...
Come Q4, ALL OTHERS WILL BOW DOWN to SE_X1!!!
Not before November i think. The SE official E-shop anounces their "coming soon"-phones. They list up phones until October. X1 is marked with "TBA". From that I conclude with November if not later.....

... i dont fully agree that x1 is very different from pro.... Both of them are going to cater to the same market. But people who go for looks, will go for x1 and those who look for reliablity will go for htc... Essentially both of them are the same except for the superficial user interface.. deep inside they might just be the same...
So how is one more reliable than the other? Or are you talking software reliability?
I haven't seen any thorough "hands-on" TouchPro reviews yet. Can you link to one? Or should we assume that it's the same as the Diamond?
Thanks

Reliability , may not have been the right word , but what i meant was more to do with modding the handset to fits ones needs.
In xda forum, there are people who have had their hands on test version of HTC pro and even there have been efforts to dump the rom.
I dont think we can assume its same as diamond, as the specs its self are very much different.

sorry if this has been asked before,
but has there been any word as to what carriers, if any, in the US that will pick up X1? I would assume the only carrier would be T-mobile, as ATT already has iphone and picking up the X1 would probably hamper iphone sales.
Any info is appreciated.

Feels like this phone has been announced ages ago, yet it's still not on the market

@moogoo:
iPhone and X1 aren't that similar. iPhone isn't AT&T's only smartphone. X1 is in an entirely different class. Any phone with a touchscreen and pretty GUI is going to be compared to iPhone, unfortunately.
AT&T looks to be the provider as all of the X1a frequencies match theirs. TMobile's 3G doesn't match.

Good point with the frequencies, didn't think of that. I haven't heard any news about AT&T picking it up though. I'd love to give it a try because the WM aspect of it still bugs me. I wish they would come out with a UIQ variant, but unfortunately the HW isn't supported (at least i think that's why there isn't a UIQ variant).

Perhaps, somewhere down the line there will be a UIQ Xperia device?
In the U.S., T-Mobile and AT&T are the only major candidates. X1a's frequencies match AT&T's 3G. Once upon a time there was also an AT&T panel on the X1...so just putting 2 and 2 together, I'd say AT&T definitely. |

I heard that SE might possibly maybe, perhaps make a version for T-Mobile's 3G, but that's just a tiny rumor. |

said earlier that the Xperia isn't bound to any specific operating system... I'll think the reason why we haven't seen or heard of any UIQ powered Xperia's yet, is the fact that users are quite familiar with UIQ... If an UIQ Xperia had been released at the same time as the WM Xperia X1, no WM Xperia had been sold... The right move for IMO is to first release WM Xperia (to let people get used to having an WM device), then, after maybe a year, release an UIQ Xperia..

If the X1 is delayed until November then it would be logical not to buy one,
Since just around the corner is the Android phone.
Then theres the Motorola project code named "Alexander" Spec wise it makes X1 look a little wanting in the majority of aspects (yes you heard it right "Motorola " lol taking on the big boys and going by the rumours this is going to be their last stand. If they fail then they shutting up shop, meaning they are putting in heavy resources and development into this Project. hehe Wouldnt be going down without a fight. (XMen style)
By the way one of its architectural subsets will incorporate "Tegra" nothing more said.
Then hmmm we have the Omap 3500 series (oh interesting information is the new Pandora console is using the Omap 3500 series and comes out mid August,
Then theres also the U500 platform from Ericsson, Available first Quarter 2009, Additionally theres SnapDragon ( personally I say December when HTC announced the new Beast, but PersonallyI beleive it be available Mayish, after all the fancy Xperia like marketing,
Bear in mind 22 companies thats right "22" not 3 comapnies or 5 22 comapinies are adopting the Snapdragon "possible MID based devices taking on the atom maybe phone too since they are converging
then we have "Moorestown" from Intel what a device i thought intel will be swept away but that device is something that is well phew
I apologise if Ive missed any more upcoming devices and platforms,
Conclusion is after a lengthy promotional window which the Xperia is doing
Its starting to lose its appeal to me,
After it does come out eventually If November is the time frame then, waiting just a couple of months we will have devices out that will i guarantee you will make the X1 look Mundane, |

One thing i learned from the past: buy a phone that's available at the moment if you need one. So if the X1 is an option for me when it hits the market, i'll definately consider buying one... To many times have i not bought a phone because i always thought something better was coming out soon. For me, it doesn't work that way. |

Pierke I think you have a valid point there, But its the proximity in Release of these phones meaning Xperia seem to be delaying more, evidently the Time window is getting smaller, If Mid September is indeed the official release then no doubt I will get one but it been nearly a year since announced, Most manufacturers will catch up and indeed and surpass
The MSM7200A was cutting edge at the time the SE adopted it, Its Good
but not that good, ahem old, no doubt they will always going to be a phone around the corner that will out spec a previous model thats pretty obvious
But its the Time frame, its encroaching on treacherous ground, a niche device on older technology release at a time when the literally around the corner............yes you can finish the sentence we have to wait and see, but if you read my posts you will see that I also make valid points |

Of course you're right! One thing i'm always worried about: you never know exactly when a phone will hit the market. One can always be delayed. SE gave the X1 an expected date somewhere in the second half of 2008, very smart of them because we can only seriously claim it is delayed if it's not in stores on the first day of 2009... If something better is available at the time, i'll certainly consider buying it, even though i'm always attracted to SE. (don't know why, probably a design thing...)
