Yaas bring back the iconic power button, and the iconic 3.5mm jack. I stan by it.
BTW is it just me or "the prototype" doesn't have the volume rocker? |

Like I said before, the camera is a problem just like the XZ2 Premium which ultimately meant it come out so late. Lets hope they get it sorted soon. Regarding the Xperia 2, I expect it to be 80% Xperia 1 in terms of internals and design. I think the side FPS will remain, its so much better than in screen FPS so I think it should stay. Also, the design should be very similar to Xperia 1. The old Sony power button? Sounds like garbage to me. The Xperia 1 is the new Sony identity, expect it to be refined once or twice before you get the 'big' changes.
Also for the staff that will be cut, I think the great ideas were stifled and its down to Sony being so traditional and arrogant. The internal issues with department didn't help either and maybe that is why Cybershot and Walkman phones disappeared. Its sad because you have some very capable staff who could've done some great things while others (more of the decision makers) did nothing useful. One person in particular still has an Xperia Arc and really wanted to revive it but got shot down and its a shame. The worry now is that with this department merge you could get a device with some crazy internals but you still need a group of people who know how to make a good phone so camera, music and Bravia department can't help you there and this is a worry. |

Someone tell Sony they should do something like this and more to advertise. Imagine a Sony Pictures movie shot on Xperia. Why the hell not? Short film makers, camera reviewers etc reach out to them. Use that cine alta thing before someone else comes and takes it from you.
Also based on dimensions Xperia 2 has very similar STB, I expect a 1 look alike too, but maybe refined more? |

@Hawk12 I know they are edited to oblivion and taken with additional lenses, mics, gimbals etc. But filmmakers dare use iPhone for actual films, I want Sony to be the choice for that, if it was shot on xz2p, those directors wouldn't have to deal with iPhone low light video shots. They should go bold and say we're better for these stuff and prove it. Actual watchable content with stories, action, dialogue. People actually praising them on their own channels.
I saw something similar to this video. I think they were for X? They shot famous cities with Xperia. Promotional videos, which don't reach to a wide audience. They should take a more indie way. Maybe even a contest to win a feature film deal. Send Xperias to those who made these movies with a note "we've heard you like to shot with a phone, try this." idk  |

That's way too blurry. Based on the dimensions you mentioned Zodiac, the design should resemble X1 or 10. This photo has no chin, smaller forehead. I say it's because of the blur or something is off. |

With the CineAlta stuff, 1 can be very cool tool.
4K 21:9 HDR HLG 24fps with controls over iso, shutter speed, colour profile etc ...
And it works for all rear cams.
I have no idea if the front cam of new phones do video 21:9. 🤔
Of course no phone can deliver quality equal to a real cam.

Also the pro mode provides a color accurate display if I'm not mistaken. That's what I'm saying, it has these advantages, marketing should use them. Even if they only cater to indie short makers it can grow from there.
I believe I saw front cam sample also in wide format in a review.
Do Chinese celebrate April 1st? Maybe it's a joke? Zodiac said 6.2 inch display with 1234p. At 6.0, another phone with 5.7 only for Japan doesn't really make sense but there's speculation that carrier versions will differ a lot. |

Rumor : Sony may going to outsourcing hardware desgin to Foxconn as ODM. Sony will take core part(like camera, display, SW)
So Sony can focus it's R&D to key things like camera, and save manufacturing cost.

I don't think Sony Mobile will become chinese ODM + brand manufacture like Wileyfox, InFocus, Wiko.
It could be like HMD Global(Nokia). FIH Mobile(Foxconn) develop actual phone incl SW, HMD Global only providing Nokia brand and exterior design.
Sony's case : Foxconn will take hardware design, Sony only take care of SW.
