@Zainman Stop spamming the web site. Just post something intresting as for as region or country is concerned, it makes no difference on the Net. |

Sooner or later you'll see yourself bilal. I'm not spamming and yes it makes a HELL lot of difference if you discusss technology on some international website or local, as the international people tend to be sick of other people. Anyway, my forum is also open to international readers and viewers. Enjoy |

@ bilal: No yaar, he is not spamming. I think we need to encourage Pakistani wap forums. That will be our basis of self reliance on wap sites. Can you name right now how many wap sites are out there by and for Pakistanis? Almost none.
@ urashid: I am with you mate, Ufone GPRS is the best around. Stable and reliable. Its real satisfying. Doesnt leave you frustrated.
And whats the url of your "WAP" site?

Hi every one. Telenor launches its services in peshwar last day. So hope some one inform us soon about the quality of the service and signal in their city. In news telenor also say they will cover 100 cities till the end of this year. So hope all the important and major cities will be covered by telenor till the end of the year. But telenor not doing any thing about the call rate. It sounds really high as compared to warid. Now ufone also launches the new post paid packages in which call rates are pretty attractive as compared to the telenor and mobilink. Warid also tells that they will launch in 93 cities in november. So seems competition will get tougher specially for mobilink. I personally do not like the mobilink at all. So i wish and hope that others wipe it out of market soon. That will be very satisfactory and joyful news for me. Because i think mobilink is a coward looser. ( but its only personal wish and point of view so do not comment on it. Lol ) Regards. Umer

Hello Fellows,
Just an update that a revision in the rates of post paid Telenor packages is coming up in near future. Telenor guys told me that they plan to launch services which no other cellular network is providing in Pakistan. We have to wait and see whats up their sleeves!
What i personally feel is that Telenor will not be able to catch up with Waridtel as far as international call tariffs are concerned as Abu-Dhabi Group also owns a WLL company in Pakistan which has its own gateway exchange, that is why international call rates of warid are damn cheap. As Telenor has to route all the international calls through PTCL's gateway, which is by no means cheap, therefore, i dont foresee Telenor dropping its international call rates.
Telenor also plan to extend its network to more than 90 new cities by the end of this year, i dont know how authentic this claim is.
One thing which confuse me whose explanation i could not get from Telenor is, they advertise in the newspapers that "Telenor is the fastest growing cellular network in Pakistan", i myself have serious doubts over it, has Waridtel covers more cities than Telenor and their expansion plan looks more agressive than Telenor's, so if anyone of you guys could find out what is behind their this big claim, please share with us on this forum. |

SE7: i have never seen ad by telenor that states that they are the fastest growing cellular service. As for your other claims about Warid owning their own WLL company. They do not own so. The consortium has the LICENSE but is currently not operarting that service so yes they ARE using PTCL at the moment. Lets see what telenor has to bring..
guys PLEASE bring your discussion over to http://www.techpakistan.com

@Zainman:
You need to look at the English newpapers which had their advertisement for launch of their services in Peshawar! This is their claim for quite a long time and same is mentioned everytime in the newspaper. Re-check the newspapers!
Its true that their WLL (Wateen Telecom (Pvt) Ltd, in which abu Dhabi Group has invested US$ 100 Million) is not operative yet, but they are using the gateway which that WLL company will use later on. For that they have paid the fee etc for obtaining the gateway. I met a warid guy and he also confirmed that the reason for their low international call rates is the same.
To corroborate this i would like to add here that the CDMA companies which are also offering very low international call rates have their own international gateways.
Wateen Telecom (Pvt) Ltd will start its services some time later and its fully owned by Abu Dhabi Group (ADG).
what i meant by its own was owned by ADG not by warid as ADG also owns in Pakistan Bank Alfalah, UBL besides Wateen Telecom (Pvt) Ltd.

@SE7. Man i do not care about the international call rates. I have not made a single international call in my whole 25 years life. So all i care is about the intrapakistan rates. This time telenor call rates are damn high and that drop in prepaid call rate was nothing but a joke with users. Even no onnet low rates. This company took good start but seems will end like a looser soon if not drop the call rates very soon. Did you took a look at the ufone postpaid thats also very much attractive now. @Zainman. Man we have read that site address we are not blind or some thing. But we like to discuss it here. That sites wap version is too much heavy that some poor person like me can not afford to browse it because it needs too many bytes. Regards. Umer

Telenor has also drop down its international call rates I think to Zone-I countries to Rs. 7, but Umer and Radarblip are right we have nothing to do with international call rates ,their rates within the country and on net are high they should drop it. I have only kept Telenor SIM for GPRS and I m using WARID. And Now Can the Guy SE7 give explanation for this Who was saying that Telenor is not likely to drop its international call rates. Now where is the Gateway exchange of Telenor............?ha......
But Just left the internatonal call rates we have nothing to do with it. |

@bilal:
The IDD tariff has been revised downward only after an special agreement with PTCL.Telenor still dont own its own gateway exchange! U need to revisit my earlier post to really understand what i actually said.
Telenor's IDD rates r still more than Warid's.i think Telenor wants to target the elite class and their rates will always remain higher than Warid's. Dont expect to see them getting cheaper than Warid! Thats my own analysis, which in turn can prove to be wrong also. So the lesson for guys like bilal is, dont take things seriously!!
Another point i would like to mention here that IDD also constitutes an important part as lots of other people do make international calls from their cell phones! So if you step into cellular company's shoes, u would realise that IDD call tariffs also need to be taken into account.
The bottom line is Warid is cheaper than Telenor and will remain so until and unless there is a major change in the business strategy of Telenor.
@bilal, dont try to target me again if Telenor change their business strategy and becomes the cheapest in the lot, as these strategies are pretty flexible!!! and listen i am not any official representative of either Telenor or warid, whatever i post here is my personal views which may differ from actual!!!

Hi guys. Today i see in one local kind of news paper that last day was the telenor board meeting and they decided to drop the call rates 50 percent on both the pre paid and post paid packages. Is it true. Because i do not see the new rates on any news paper till now. So if some one know about this news or new rates please inform us here soon. Regards. Umer
