System Manager (SMan) v1.3 is now available |

In respect to the file manager module: I would also suggest having an options dialog for the jogdial. Currently, only the "Jogdial opens" option is available. I'm thinking it might be useful to have an entire options dialog for the jogdial: e.g. instead of just jogdial opens, we could assign the jogdial to tick/untick, jogdial inwards could bring up the context menu - beam, cut, copy, paste, etc., while jogdial away could move up to the parent directory instead of taking to the SE desktop (which I think is the default action for jogdial outwards if SE desktop is installed).
Also, it might be useful to have the jogdial outwards move back to the previously used Sman module if kept presed for, say, 3 secs. For example, i always start with the task manager module, and then usually move to file manager. Pressing jogdial away when in file manager would take me to SE desktop. Instead, i would like to take me to the task manager module of SMan if pressed for 3 secs (because as I've said earlier i would like instant press to take me up the directory tree).
Does that make sense?

Two new things I noticed:
There aren't any P-series phones listed in the hardware profile. There is an option to create my own profile, but I don't honestly know which features each phone supports. The program seems to work just fine on Autodetect, but I am assuming users make up a good portion of the audience for this product and shouldn't feel like they were ignored.
I have been fooling around with the Hotkey option and I am not quite satisfied. I prefer my internet key to open the internet while the flip is opened. There is no way for me to configure it so that while the flip is open the key will open the internet, and while the flip is closed the key will exit programs or flush tasks. All of the options offered are SMan related or completely disable the key. There should be an option titled |

one more basic idea...
I have noticed that the file manager can only acces the D:\MSSEMC\P-Series folder of the MSDuo. The innate file browser of the phone can access other sections of the memory card, and it would be nice if SMan could as well.
I have a Sony Cybershot that takes Memory Stick and I sometimes swap cards around. It would be nice to be able move pics taken by my camera to my phone, possibly zip them or just email them. |

The hardware profiles are only there because SMan can't tell the various Motorola models apart. That is why, in the SysInfo, we identify the Motorolas as "MotoUIQ" and not A920/A925/A1000 becuase they all share the same UID. Yet, have different hardware/features.
So, Motorola users need to tell SMan what model their UIQ is which is why we have the hardware profiles for them and SE's P series works correctly in "auto detect" mode. The plus to this is that when a new model of UIQ is release between SMan versions, we can just release a hardware profile for that device and SMan can enable/disable any feature that can/can't be used by the new model.
You can also disable stuff if you want, assumeing you know what each description is.

Well... that was done by design. I will leave it to Droll to consider your suggestion.

I just wanted to comment on how battery hungry the Network Info feature is when set to always on. It basically killed my battery in about 10 hours with GPRS disconnected and not using the phone at all. I turned it on just to see how quickly the battery would die and I honestly didn't use the phone at all today, it sat on my desk.
On the upside I am happy to report that my room receives signal from at least 4 different towers. |

I know that this feature eats up the battery, but it has never drained the battery that fast... I can get 1.5 days from a full charge. That is on my P800.
Will take not to warn users in manual that the battery run flat pretty fast with that running. I just don't nderstand the "It basically killed my battery in about 10 hours with GPRS disconnected and not using the phone at all" which is just too fast.
BTW, what model are you using?

P910a
I agree that seems way too fast, but I usually get 1.5-2 days off of a full charge the way I use my phone. Additionally, I really didn't use the phone at all during those 10 hours, and it wasn't moving around all that much.
I will try it again on another day after a few recharges. |

Ok... I know that Droll complains the P910 has a shorter battery life than the P800 or P900, but 10 hours is like I said earlier... just too short. Please try again and let me know.
