My batt. on P900 recently will not hold a charge. If I plug it in, the batt icon does not flash like normally, led does not stay lit. The batt. % will increase like it's charging but once removed from charger, it will drained in an hour to 10%. Is this a faulty batt. or a phone problem. I don't mind buying a new batt. if that's the problem. Also the phone seems a little more warmer than usual. Any input, advice is greatly appreciated. |

Mostly a case of batt faulty.

@baseballfanz. From the symptoms it sounds like one of the cells has begun to break down. This causes the internal resistance to rise, and the batt will generate heat as the current flows through the cell. The damaged cell will have minimal capacity and doesn't charge or discharge effectively. Only solution is a new battery, and if possible check the manf date and buy a recent one as incorrect storage, eg temperature, causes the cells to age and reduces useful life.

Appreciates all inputs, been very helpful. Thank You to govigov and ijefferies. I order a new battery, hope that's the cause of it. Another things my original battery came as a model BST-15 1260mAh, the sonyericsson site and a few other place that have OEM battery have the same model number but their's are all 1000 mAh, still work with P900?
Thanks again

It should work, but run-time of the phone will be reduced. Check that it's an original SE pack, as there's a batch of poor quality copies around.

Umm..If you can't get the battery out..Ummm..Don't get something to poke it out..Since..It sort of breaks the Battery cover..As..My friend did with his Nokia 7250i battery..Since it was quite hard to get out..Hmm..But SE has done a good job of having a tab off the edge of the battery compartment (S700) |

...Because you get the best battery life when you charge it in a power off handy. |

technically, you can't do this with K700i, right? because, the unit turns itself on when you charge it, even if it is turned off. i noticed that it is indeed on because once, when i charged my phone when it was off, after removing the charger, it gave me the "shutdown animation" as if i was turning off my phone.

Thanks a lot Orang for the information. Very helpful. But I did read in a magazine that most of the chargers have a capacity to check when the battery is full and immediately stop charging once the capacity is reached. So I guess the question of over/under charging doesn't arise. Then again I don't know if all chargers have that function!

all Sony Ericsson chargers have this function |

I got a new phone from SE, as a replacement, I wasn't sure what part of it was new (it said "replaced contents" in the description of service), so I didn't now that battery was new. Because of that I didn't do the long charges but started to use the phone normally. So far the charge counter in Float's Mobile Agent shows 6. My question to You:
Is there any point in doing the long charges now or is it a lost cause? |
