Anyone got their hands on the S700 yet? Seen one in the Sony shop in Liffey Valley SC, its a bloody big phone!... I think the Sim-free price is something like €700-800. Nearly fainted!

One of the guys in work here is getting a friend to buy him an S700 in Singapore when she goes over soon. He hopes to have it by March or April, naturally I'll get my grubby hands on it to check it out.

Have the V800 a month now.
Its a very good phone, the (flash)light in it is very good, its a bit bulky, but not too bad.
Paid 319 for mine in Carphonewarehouse in Jan, If I had waited a week, I could have gotten it for 225. ah well !!

Yeah, i know a guy who's got the Vodafone live 3g Datacard. I have to say I'm impressed with the connection speed, but then again you can sit down in almosy any pub or Cafe in the city centre of dublin and Hack a WiFi network.

Hmmmm consience is getting at me......... but do i really want to pay that sort of money?

Yeah the V800 is loaded with Vodafone Live firmware and cant be changed
But the menus look a lot better on it than on the Vodafone T610, and its very fast.
Hopefully Vodafone Ireland will keep up to date with SE,they were only 3 months late with the v800

Damn Vodafone, why do they insist on ruining a perfectly good phone... But I suppose SE has no choice but to suck to Voda, otherwise SE mobiles would'nt be on their network.

Who said Globalisation was a good thing...

BTW: SE 700i is about £350 stg sim-free (€500 approx) in the UK.... Big difference to what we have to put up here!

Hey, I bought S700i In Dubai. Got it for €400 Sim Free. I managed to get o2 post pay settings. It works perfectly. I really like the phone. The picture quality is brilliant. Screen is a decent size aswell. And it looks cool. I definetely recommend it. Wouldnt buy it in ireland yet though. Its too dear. I saw it in the sony shop for €799.

I've just changed over to Meteor and picked up a T630 for just €29... not a bad deal!
Anyone on Meteor manage to get their email client working?

These are my settings and GPRS Internet access is enabled as I can use this data account to go online with my laptop. Email client worked ok when I was with O2, not sure what the prob here is and Meteor's support is crap!

Data Account

So Morten, what's the battery life like on the S700, I mean its got a huge screen, surely thats draining the battery.

If I was to finally get one It had better last longer then the K700i battery Ggggrrrrr.... Only get about 2 and a half days light use outta it. The standby times SE quoted on the K700i are never going to happen. But its a pretty great phone otherwise.

Jester did you try the SE website to get the settings for the T630. AFAIK it should set the email client settings for you automatically and send them to your phone. I know it does this for O2 and Voda, not sure for Meteor.... Good luck

http://www.sonyericsson.com select Europe, then Ireland, product support and there should be a link to settings etc...

EDIT:
Just tried messing about at the SE website and if you get the WAP/GPRS settings sent to your phone first, THEN try the email settings it already knows that you are on the Meteor network then all you have to do is select the email client you use and enter the rest of the data yourself.

Cheers Dammer,

Had a look at that but it's only dial-up. I'm looking for a GPRS solution to getting my mail. Stupid Meteor support is useless, they now tell me that they don't support this. Wish I stayed with O2, stuck with Meteor for 11 months! Is it possible to just buy out the contract and transfer your number back?

@Dammer, battery life on the S700i is a lot better than the K700i. I can get almost 4 days out of a single charge. It really is miles ahead of the K700i when it comes to battery life. If you are going to get one, don't pay highstreet prices here in Ireland, order one off one of the many UK internet based retailers and you'll save a fortune. It's a class phone, but for my next phone I'll probably opt for something a bit lighter and sleeker. It can be a bit bulky at times. I reckon that the new K750i will fit the bill when it's released.

Just looked on the Vodafone phones page, and low and behold
The S700(from 249) and the K700(from 129e) are now available.
Both for RTG and billpay/upgrades.
Hopefully VF IRL will keep up with releasing SE phones, maybe a W800 is summer time ??

@dammer What is 3g actually like here. Do you have any people you can call. Id say the fist video call you make is so funny.
Anyway does anyone know anyone in a company where i can get a prototype P910i upgraded. I know the mobile phone repair company but they said they would not upgrade it as it is a prototype. It has an IMEI number though. i dont want to have to buy the doc to upgrade it.
