@Latios: interesting, nice pick.
So from Sep 14 to 24 we can experience it at the zagin store, and sounds like it is exclusive, so it bodes well with a docomo launch in October. Good for sony if they launch on AU. It would be nice for then to start discussing with softbank so they can get on sprint USA.

i disagree with the conclusion.
z1 can't be the worst performer among those 3. the 1st three pictures prove that z1 is not inferior to g2. i'm just wondering how he came up with the portion of the photo to zoom into. is there any scientific way of determining which part of the images should be compared for the 100% crop comparisons? obviously, some parts will not be as sharp as the others depending on which part the cameras focused on.
the first 3 pictures show that lg does not deliver the best details. they compared portions of the images where the z1 failed to focus. |

the last 4 looks bad for Z1 others are good. Sony still cant figure out their software even with cybershot team working on it? There was another review posted earlier that claims QX10 is worse than G2. This new review proofs that it cleary not true.

i don't think the "canon" photos are bad for z1 and qx10. they just look grainier because they are more zoomed in. if you compare the same sizes with the LG G2, you can see more artifacts and a more aggressive noise reduction. the g2 image seems to look better because it's slightly zoomed out.
the leaf macro, however, is really inferior although i think it can be easily corrected by taking another shot. there are times when the wrong angle and composition make the auto settings pass on the wrong judgment. |

okay, after looking at various samples and opinions of other sites about the Z1 camera using PROTOTYPE firmware, I can say:
1. Z1 camera produces excellent results in daylight, most notably the very high dynamic range and minimal chroma noise.
2. The amount of resolved detail in daylight is excellent, considering this is a 20mp image, downsizing it to 13mp will make the photo look even sharper.
3. Sony needs to finetune the software more for lowlight, BUT I see most sites seem to not use Sony's handheld twilight mode, which is supposed to be for lowlight picture taking, need more samples for those, still I think they need to improve more in lowlight processing.
4. Most foul reviews do pixel peeping, they seem to forget the image size is 20mp .
Anyway any camera experts here (razec perhaps) feel free to correct me.

either it's a horrible nitpicking attempt or they're still in denial that Sony moved on from poor viewing angles.

Yes they use Auto Mode. HHT or Manual mode will offer much better results. |

^technically superior auto mode (which is default) should automatically select HHT mode when taking low-light photos. but it would be good if they manually chose the mode to make sure.

No, Superior Auto has nothing to do with HHT. It works only when you go to manual mode and choose HHT and then it takes 6 successive shots and merges them into one low ISO equivalent image. |

ah ok. i thought HHT was a "scene mode".. my mistake
these "camera" reviews aren't very scientific or anything at all. shame DP review doesn't review camera phones.
also, anybody else excited for the freebies on music/movie unlimited?? i sure am!

Strange thing I notice that quick settings on the notification bar could be only 1 row of 5, and not 2 rows as of Xperia Z... |
