Re. the processor, sorry i thought it was the same, now i realize it's ARM9 vs. AARM9 for P1, thought it was a typo in the WP. But the clock speed is still the same (208MHz), so i don't expect it'll be any faster. Does anyone know the difference between those 2 chips?

I think, it just a typo in whitepaper

This is what Laffen wrote:

An update about the G-series:

- Memory. I missunderstood last time I spoke to . Both G700 and G900 have 160MB internal memory. Expandable up to 8GB (as seen in the whitepaper). Maybe 16GB when this is available, but it these are teste on the device yet.
- No accelerometer or gesture control. Display orientation controlled by user input
- CPU: EMP (Ericsson Mobile Platform), ARM 9.
- TFT display: Yes
- Price: Not announced. Could not confirm the price mentioned on other websites.
- WiFi: 802.11b and 802.11g
- Possible to install applications like TomTom etc

And that was after asking the SE representatives these questions so they came from the horses mouth as it were.

since when did CPW have even the slightest clue about these things? especially 4 months in advance.

in my experience they don't even know when something will be available 2 weeks in advance!

I know this has been said a numerous times but I can't stress it enough.

When I first saw a non-PDA Symbian phone from SE I said finally! I've been talking about this for years.

BUT the sad summary:
- No Turbo-3G (HSDPA)
- No GPS (built-in, no accessories)
- No 16M colours display
- No Xenon flash

Another disappointment. Not surprising, used to that from SE in the last couple of years... Damn shame for a phone that could be a killer. Now it's only gonna be almost there...

hi bud:

I believe those features you stated are reserved for the flagship C-S phone which is "High-End" by perception. G900/700 were Midrange phones

Do you guys believe that 's flagship Cybershot phone for this year will be a G900 + UIQ 3.2 + HSDPA + WiFi + Xenon Flash?

@Saka

As far as I know, Symbian UIQ doesn't support millions of colours yet so that's that. But the screen is 2.4" full TFT transflective, so it's better then the P1i's and it's smaller but has they same pixel density, think iPod Nano screen where the quality is stunning cause of the more densely packed pixels.

I personally don't care about the HSPDA as 3G as always been more then enough for me, it would also push the price of the phone up.

No GPS is great for me also, I have a bluetooth GPS unit that is more sensitive then a phone one, plus if you use a phones GPS for car navigation it kills the battery and with Nokia you have to pay monthly for turn by turn instructions and the built in GPS only works with Nokia's software. More convenient yes but not without draw backs.

No Xenon flash, it would be nice, especially with 5mpx camera, but it would compete with the cybershot range then and Nokia don't use xenon flash on it's N96 even, only used on it's photo orientated phones. Would be nice but would push the price up too.

I think g series will adopt 3G in the next iteration.

@nipsen, yes it will be interesting to see SE approach to software development. Unfortunately I think the Sony influence often tends to push SE to proprietary solutions (well it's easy to blame Sony because they are so good at doggedly pursuing dead end proprietary solutions).
