Not using it, but I'm curious: is the Blackberry client incompatible with every new firmwares?

Hey @ZED, while you're here, maybe you can answer my question as to wether Tweak Peaks has any affect on the P1? |

@Zed@CPS
yes each firmware means new version of BBC, I do not know the reason as most of the time you don't see any differencies in functionality.

@mrecker: Thanks for the info - it's somewhat strange.
@AD: The effect of TP seems to depend on the individual phone. Quite many P1 users reported significant acceleration, while others did not experience it.

Tweak Peaks essentially turns off transition effects. There is an option on the P1 to do this and as a result TP is not so useful on the p1. |

I have been exploring the changes on my P1 since the update I made yesterday & so far I am pleased with it.
I could use i-skoot once more & use the panning feature for wallpaper zooming again.
Also I noticed a that opening applications were beefed up & so was messaging, the camera seems clearer too.
Anyone else on Singapore Latin who had upgraded?

The new FW is crap. It was kinda fine, except the known bugs, but then I decided to format the phone. Now, all themes and sounds are gone, and, since I changed the language from USA to UK English (I don't know if it has any connection) the alarm is not working, and after I select a custom ringtone and save it, it still say default, and won't ring. Good thing that I manage to somehow wake up without alarm these past couple of days.
If I repeat the process for firmware update, will it still let me do it, even if it has the latest one? Nokias do that...
oh, after the format, the default setting for the screen brightness is 90%, and it was 65% before.
I would really like someone at SE to sit on their behind and do it's job. I didn't bought a 500$ phone to help SE to beta test it. grrr...

Tweak Peaks essentially turns off transition effects. There is an option on the P1 to do this and as a result TP is not so useful on the p1. It is not quite so. TP does not directly switch off transition effects, because SE did not publish the ways of doing it. Instead TP does some completely different thing, which results in various accelerations, one side-effect of which is that transitions do not appear. So, testing TP for positive effects is recommended on any phone and firmware.
Well, all this is better discussed in the dedicated Tweak Peaks thread.

Well, actually, I don't mind helping and betatesting a product, as long as there is someone on the other end promptly fixing what I have found, and reporting back. The "4" bug is known since the day one, why do I have to wait 3-4 months for the next FW??
And after all, if I AM betatesting, at least SE should throw a free device and some ca$h this way, since I am loosing productivity, and doing that in my own "free" time.
This way, I should be lucky if the alarm rings when it's supposed to... That's not good product. At all.

*Nods* Feel the same way.

Tell me about it..

Actually.. seems the alarm depends on the localisation and the language you choose. I think the bug shows up in some cdas in a combination with specific language- selections. Possibly when the start of the week is different between the two. Unfortunately... no one has managed to pinpoint exactly what the problem is, or are able to pick it out and explain it. And presumably it would go away if you set the start- date of the week after the install, in the time and date program. It might have something to do with the notification windows that turn up when you receive a message as well. So that if a window is open already, the alarm won't play. But I've not managed to get that to happen, even if the notification that's active when the alarm goes off is set to silent.
So to be honest - I don't think that bug exists since the past two firmwares. And I suspect that very few have actually managed to see the bug, if it's even there..
And I mean - apparently there's only one certain thing you can do to hang the phone now (going directly to the taskbar from quickoffice while in landscape mode). The rest seem to work quite well for a smartphone with that price- tag (which, I suppose isn't saying much.. But it is stable now - curiosuly few unpredictable things seem to happen on the phone, compared to a s710 for example, which I tried for a while).
So the remaining things appear to be logical faults in program- behaviour, and small fixes on the way the pre- installed programs behave. As well as the way notifications of different kinds work. ..I would like to know who in the world suggests the changes they /do/ work on, to be honest..
