Actually, R4 was the last update with the video autofocus trick, I wished having that on R5 when I was travelling then. I only have blurry videos from that trip |

This minor 'attack' on AbuBasim would have been relevant (given the premise of your finger-pointing) if AbuBasim was a native speaker of English.
AbuBasim, am I correct in assuming English is in fact your second language? |

@bondizi:
Third, in fact
1. Finnish, 2. Swedish, 3. English, 4. Urdu.

Ha! Very nice...
Highlighted my point very nicely, thank you.
Many here are not native speakers of English, and a little dig in jest here and there really ought to be taken in the spirit of comradery.

Sorry bondizi, but I still did not get your point..
Would you pls highlight it a bit more...
Is this the justification for making fun of someone or what is it you are trying to tell us here ?

@myth: bogdan's point was that native speakers of English dont care about other languages since they assume everyone knows English to a certain extent, but in fact they are a disadvantage because they are limited to only one language whereas the non-native speakers have at least 2 languages (their own, as well as English) to use.
so why make fun of non-native english speakers?
my point is, if one non-native speaker of english makes an innocent joke of another non-native speaker's spelling mistake or grammatical error, it's not a big deal. pulling each other's legs now and then is not tantamount to making fun of others in a bad way.... |

Well, so you were solely referring to bogdan's statement.
That may be ok, but still doesn't prove the innocent intention of another user, only because English is not his native language.
Look, here is another response to nikola's 'grate':

although this is another unnecessary comment, it still doesn't have the same despising effect as the one we are talking about...

I never said it proved innocence of intent.
I'm only advocating friendly jibes amongst members of a community such as this one.
Some people can be bastards, sure...but they will be sure to make a point of it and ensure that their intentional insults do not go unnoticed.
but poor AbuBasim is not that kind of person. i mean, i havent been on Esato very long but from what i've seen of his posting, its always very meaningful and cordial. so in this case, i feel it was unnecessary to tell him he was 'not nice' or whatever.
my point is, you jumped on the wrong guy.

Yes, we're on a community, but this doesn't necessarily mean that everyone here feels a deep sympathy to each other, just because we're all on esato.
I believe that there are more than enough dialogues on esato proving this..
Whether friendly or not, making fun with the weakness of someone is not correct, especially, if you don't know each other.

Wow, I envy all of you guys who can speak so many languages! I'm a native English speaker and my only "languages" could be French and Mandarin Chinese. However, the latter two are almost unusable in practical terms... (hence the use of quotations haha)
With respect to the grate issue, when I first read it, I didn't take it in a negative way... I've seen and heard many light-hearted jokes being made about people making mistakes in speaking or writing the English language (in my case, often between native speakers). So I personally wouldn't read into it too much. And then from now on, we should just try to be a little more careful about the jests we make, knowing that some may feel offended.
I think I might understand that if I was not particularly strong in a language and others were making fun of how I spoke/wrote, I might potentially feel discouraged.
At any rate, don't feel bad - you guys are already so amazing for knowing so many languages.
But anyways, back on topic... I don't know if this has been answered already (didn't see anything), but how is the alarm functionality of the new firmware? Two things in particular:
1) Is it possible to use an entire MP3 as an alarm? As opposed to only the first 20 or 30 seconds being played repeatedly?
2) Is the bug where the alarm fails to go off fixed? (For example, I have my alarm set to go off on working days, but it didn't go off yesterday morning!)
I am still using R6D23 because my CDA does not yet have an upgrade available. |

Wow! This shows how what I intended as a small joke highlighting the alternative meaning of a misspelt word, ended up in some people's eyes as something very negative.
Anyway, point taken. Esato is not the right place to make jokes or for people to tease each other, even in the most light-hearted manner. My future posts will be completely humor-free. From now on, before I press Submit, I will think to myself, 'is this something myth.71 could take the wrong way?' and if the answer is 'yes' then I just move the pointer to the Cancel Post button.

Supposed to be firmware... in that light, how is the alarm features in the new firmware?
Also, I have a question about Bluetooth stereo audio volume. People say it's always way too low. But what exactly is way too low? Is it like the wired-handsfree volume in R6D23? |
