Hmm... Just last night, something weird happened to my phone. I was turning off the power and there was a crackling sound, like there was a short-circuit inside. Thankfully nothing happened to my phone, didn't blow up or anything. Haha... But I'm just curious as to what caused the crackling sound. I've been taking really good care of my phone and it's never been exposed to a single drop of water, neither has it been dropped before. I wasn't charging the phone at that point of time, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary, then it suddenly just crackled. Apparently it happened to my friend's K750i as well, but she said that it had been exposed to a few drops of rain. So at that time I thought perhaps that was the reason for her phone crackling. But mine? Hmm... Wonder if anyone else has had the same experience.

I got a K610im just a couple of days back and boy am I disappointed. I did some research online prior to that and it seemed like it was almost perfect for me. Pity it doesn't support java apps, which is very important to me since I use the Gmail app and do most of my browsing on Opera Mini and I'd hate to have to go without Esato on my daily commutes.
I did read in one of the threads here regarding installation of java apps on the K610im prior to getting it, but it was inconclusive. Googling about it didn't help much either. So I actually asked to sales reps from two different shops and they both weren't sure about it but believed that there wasn't any limitations regarding java support on the K610im.
Of course, compared to my K750i, the K610im is more advanced in many ways. It supports up to 1000 contacts and SMSes, copy and paste, backing up and restoring contacts from memory stick, has A2DP and can run more than 1 java app at any one time (what good is this if I can't install the java apps I want?).
So, I'm back to my trusty K750i and still loving it, despite the minor issues I had with its joystick. I just got it back from the service centre and they told me they replaced the entire motherboard (I was quite surprised because I only complained about the joystick becoming a little insensitive).
They upgraded my firmware from R1CA021 which wasn't giving me any problems, to R1DB001, which doesn't seem to be any different, except that I encountered the problem with the shortcuts on the directional keys resetting themselves. Thankfully that only happened a couple of times and has not occurred again since. Apart from that, sound quality through the speakers seems to be a bit poorer, but I could be wrong. Have not had the chance to test the sound quality through my HPM-70 yet.
Well, having said all that, I'm really glad to be using my K750i again. I'll probably be selling off my K610im soon, I don't even want it as a backup phone. I'll be waiting for the K770 to be launched, and in the meantime, I might see if I can get a W810 at a good price. Does anybody know if the W810 supports up to 1000 contacts, 1000 SMSes, copy and paste, backing up and restoring contacts from memory stick and can run more than 1 java app at any one time? If yes, I think I'll be going for it.

No copy paste or multitasking in w810 |

The w810 is not multitasking, does not have capacity for that capacity of messages, etc. It's like the k750 but with edge, a light sensor and walkman.

I have a SE k750i also, i love this phone!
But... I have a little problem with it.
When I plug in the cable that connects the phone to my PC, that notifying message "Charging" keeps to show up every 5 seconds....
That is not always, sometimes i don't see that message just once, at the beginning .
What can go wrong?
PS: My phone is 1 week old, I still have the warranty paper. Should I go to the service center? |

@ajeetpv, tranced, thanks for the info, cleared up some doubts there. Much appreciated! Well, in that case, it does seem as if I'm better off sticking to my K750i for now. |

@bogdan0, I don't usually charge my phone through USB, so I'm not too certain. However, as far as I know, if you're charging with your phone turned on, it should display "optimized charging" just once, when it's first connected. If it's turned off, it should display "charging" and a battery indicator. How does your phone behave when you charge using the normal charger? If it charges normally, then the problem lies with your USB connection.

1000 contacts - Yes
1000 SMSes - Yes
Copy and Paste - Yes. Tried and did it on my friend's W810. The copy/paste menu wording is a bit different from the K610 (it is similar to other JP-6 SEs like the W300), but copy and paste text it can do nevertheless.
can run more than 1 java app at any one time - No. Among SE non-smartphones, only Java Platform 7 (JP-7) phones and above can do this.
EDIT:
@deluded, you can't go wrong with the W810. Vs. the K750, only the camera-activating cover is missing. It has a bigger, more vivid screen, same size as the K610's, but a lot more colorful. The K610 screen looks washed-out beside it.
Vs. the K610, W810 lags behind in Java features and performance. To put it simply, W810's general UI isn't that much slower than K610. But when you run Java programs, you can really feel their slowness and un-smoothness as compared to when they run in a K610. (Try Burning Tires on both devices and compare.)
Also, the W810 has FM radio and a more sophisticated music player. But no flight mode as in K610, just a Music-only mode.

@deluded, I charge my phone through USB either, but when i plug in it automatically charge. And shows me the pop-up notification "Charging".
When I charge with the original charger:
if the battery is completely empty it shows "Charging"
if the battery is not empty(0-10%) it shows "Optimized Charging". |

@bogdan: i have seen this issue with my cousin's computer. I think it is because of the usb port voltage. In my case, i plugged it in in the usb front ports. Try the ones in back panel of the cpu.

@chili, thanks for the answers, they were just what I was looking for. Having read what you mentioned, I think I could do with a W810 while waiting for the K770. Thanks!
@bogdan0, tranced is right, USB charging will not work correctly if you're connecting it to a USB hub, it'll have to be a powered USB port. As for what you mentioned regarding the 2 different messages that appear while charging, it's like what I said in my earlier post.

K750I charging fine of a non powered USB hub here |

@tranced, no problem dude, anytime. I have to agree with PowerLee, i charge my K610 almost daily from a USB hub w/o a separate power source - just my laptop's lone USB port. (It's an old Dell Latitude.) The key is to install your SE phone's driver to the PC where you'll be charging your phone from. Then it won't matter whether you plug to a hub or direct to a USB port. I used to be baffled about this too - i plugged my K610 to a PC that wasn't mine and although the lightning (charging) icon is blinking, the battery isn't getting charged. And this is after i made sure that i switched on the USB charging option in the services menu. Same thing happened with a friend's W800. Once he installed its drivers to his PC, charging worked fine. |
