the shutter lag is short, maybe slightly less than 1 second? autofocus is fast, i think about the same as k750i. |

You seem to resize most of your sample photos down to 1000x750pixels. Is this because more comfortable viewing of them?
Unfortunately resizing makes details as well as the much discussed and feared noise (and noise suppression artefacts) to diminish - and worst of all - the lossy compressed JPEG file format suffers during resaving as the 8x8pixels blocks get recreated.
So, why don't you upload full size samples? In HowardForum you uploaded at least one (DSC00480-full.jpg) but for some peculiar reason you uploaded it to yousendit.com instead of imageshack.us where your resized ones are hosted. Imageshack accepts uploading of files up to 1.5MB size, and I have yet to see a K800 photo larger than 1MB, usually around 800-900KB.
Somewhere I recall noticing you telling using IrfanView for resizing. Correct? Anyway, I played a little with your full size photo, DSC00480-full.jpg:
Based on the resulted filesize of the resized copy you must have used the 92% Save quality setting on JPEG options window (resizing with Lanczos filter). Why not 100% - if you insist resizing?
Hope you understand, we'd love to see your fine night shots in their full glory - as genuine originals! Rather upload the originals and save locally the resized copies, if you have to consider your harddisk capacity. Thank you! |

datx,
Well yes, picky I am but not mean. You should know me by now in "our" other forum... damn this ever ongoing twist, resized vs full size. Sorry upsetting you, sensitive readers.

| yup, resizing is for easier viewing on screen, and to have a better size to quality ratio so that pictures wouldn't take take too long to load. also, i save at 90%, saving at jpg 100% quality results in a filesize which is roughly 3 times bigger at 90% but without discernible difference in quality, at least not to my naked eye.
as for hosting on imageshack, i do not know why they are always resized to 1600x1200, even though the filesize is below the 1mb limit, so i hosted them on yousendit instead. |
