So it should be and i agree with that, but as freedom of speech has boundrys aswell, just as freedom of speech does'nt tolerate Racism or Anti-semitism,so why should making a mockery of Islam be acceptable?...thats double standards.

Well folks it looks like Iran are going to test this media and western publics tolerance to freedom of speech by publishing Holocaust cartoons.
Iran to publish Holocaust cartoons
IRAN'S largest selling newspaper announced today it was holding a contest on cartoons of the Holocaust in response to the publishing in European papers of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.
\"It will be an international cartoon contest about the Holocaust,\" said Farid Mortazavi, the graphics editor for Hamshahri newspaper - which is published by Teheran's conservative municipality.
He said the plan was to turn the tables on the assertion that newspapers can print offensive material in the name of freedom of expression.
\"The Western papers printed these sacrilegious cartoons on the pretext of freedom of expression, so let's see if they mean what they say and also print these Holocaust cartoons,\" he said.
Iran's fiercely anti-Israeli regime is supportive of so-called Holocaust revisionist historians, who maintain the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe's Jews as well as other groups during World War II has been either invented or exaggerated.
Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad prompted international anger when he dismissed the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe's Jews as a \"myth\" used to justify the creation of Israel.
Mr Mortazavi said tomorrow's edition of the paper will invite cartoonists to enter the competition, with \"private individuals\" offering gold coins to the best 12 artists - the same number of cartoons that appeared in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
Last week, the Iranian foreign ministry also invited British Prime Minister Tony Blair to Teheran to take part in a planned conference on the Holocaust, even though the idea has been branded by Mr Blair as \"shocking, ridiculous, stupid\".
Mr Blair also said Mr Ahmadinejad \"should come and see the evidence of the Holocaust himself in the countries of Europe\", to which Iran responded by saying it was willing to send a team of \"independent investigators\".

Just my 2 cents. The cartoons are wrong the violent protests are wrong. Also more importantly, NOBODY but the paper who published the cartoons know what or if they had an agenda of any kind. Unless someone here is a very close friend or relative of the editor of that paper or can read minds we don't know what their intention was (even if they did appologise).
Here's a bit of education for the non muslims in this thread on why the cartoons are not just a trivial matter:

and depicting the cartoons in question?? That would be an awesome idea!! let them grow up with the notion that all muslims are terrorists!!
Very good idea Im sure....

You seem to make rather a lot of assumptions. As far as I am aware the author of the book was not the person who drew the cartoons that the newspaper published. As far as we know the children's book would not have featured any of those cartoons. In effect it appears that the children's book was simply a book aimed at allowing children to learn about the Prophet and Islam. I applaud such efforts; the more people know and understand about the beliefs of others the less extremists have to work with in pitting people against each other.

I guess I see the Iranian's point, but really, how childish!! This whole cartoon thing makes me realise how stupid and childish societies can be (I'm talking about basically all of 'em, not necessarily Islamic countries!).
I really wish we could all just GROW UP and forget about this whole stupid episode. But i have a feeling more lives will be lost yet.

Sammy_boy i would'nt call it a childish matter to incite hatred towards someone else's religion,Iran is basically doing the right thing by checking the worlds reaction to freedom of speech under the banner of which these Islamphobic cartoons were published.
Only if it was so easy to put all of this behind us,Denmark has made the biggest mistake in its history i think, and i think you may be right many more lives may be lost still...things are not calming down by the looks of things..Appologies are coming thick and fast from the Danes but its to little to late.

I don't believe Denmark has killed anyone. Neither Denmark not the Danes are the problem here.
