SE is there! YES!
First some people @ SEworld said, that SE will be this year not @ CeBIT.
But SE will be their with some other partners and will not have their own place.

I agree with Zucka, Idou will be in the same price bracket as the X1. I have seen a lot of Nokia 5800 around London, it's a decent modern phone and it's cheap.

My sister has a 5800 and I've got the chance to test it for two hours and I have to say that it's a great phone. Only the design of the phone itself and of the UI isn't really what I'm looking for so I hope SE can end this misery...
Shouldn't be too tricky for SE to make a competitive one.

I also have the 5800 and I'm very happy with it!
SE should produce a "Mid-End Idou" like the 5800 and release it in summer! |

Just saw the Samsung S5600 and I'm wondering why SE didn't put something like this one or nokia 5800 on the market.....There must be a reason because the touchscreen-boom was predicted more than a year ago.
Is a normal touchscreen-phone too mainstream for SE?
@ maximys...how about a CEBIT-announcement-countdown-pic on semcblog?

Returned my 5800 after using it for a week. Like the speed, but the UI is nothing as good as UIQ. I wonder when will they give us OpenUIQ... |

I also have another nit to pick and the UK users will know that we get a lot of cold weather here so we will probobly have to keep our gloves off when using the phone. A d-pad would be a nice addition to any touchscreen. The scroll wheel on the P800 was fantastic for checking SMS or looking for contacts in the flip removed state.
I am very impressed with the Nokia E75, but it lacks the touchscreen. It should be affordable though. Reese is also interesting but it doesn't look like a touchscreen. I think should do something like that as a G series which would be very attractive to me.
See, this is the great thing about the 5800 - it doesn't use Capacitance TouchScreen (where you fingers, heat/electrical current is passed through them - like those high-rise ghetto-luxury apartment building elevator buttons, lol). It uses Resistance - very similar to those Palm OS PDA's of old where the glass screen had a thin-plastic film over it to connect two conductive materials together and the sensor initiated your command via stylus. Wearing gloves doesn't seem to matter much on the 5800 from what I've read - best to self test of course.
can do far better than the G-Series UIQ phones and something like the keyboard of the SureType BB devices (not like P1i) and touchscreen; best of both worlds.

PROM 1 i agree,
in fact, having S60 v5 TS (5800 like OS) running on IDOU, makes me very compelled to get the IDOU.
proven OS, not the rubbish, sluggish UIQ |

S60 v5 at the moment is far from the "proven" operating system. It's the first of symbian and there will be much more needed to make the operating system stable, "proven," and consistent. |

So................anyone have any news?
I see that Motorola have a phone to come that is similar to the W960, when are going to do this? Remember, has yet to give us an iPhone competitor i.e. with a touchscreen so its just a matter of time. I suspect it could look like Idou but with Walkman traits and worse camera therefore, a smaller device.
A little bird told me that he has the new Xperia which is close to being ready. I saw his Idou as well but switched off. It is nice but also quite large.
I also saw a black Reese picture which does look better than that maroon one. The picture looked very nice but I cannot determine the size. I have been told that it is excellent for typing and in his opinion better than the X1 keyboard. The d-pad is a big help as well, I just wish it is a touchscreen but I doubt it. |
