Probably pretty soon, they seem really quick. To be honest I don't have much interest in Symbian though.

Well, Ill either get a satio, or an iPhone. The reason I want a smartphone is that I would like to start coding apps. I could start java but I don't really like the limitations and smartphones also have awesome screens

Yeah true. I gotta say I was pretty surprised by Aino's price, even for Expert Infotech. I'm still interested in an iPhone but probably to a lesser extent due to the higher price and the camera. I've been using my C902 camera a bit lately and wouldn't want to downgrade.

satio is looking quite good i must say. still not convinced by full touch yet though. but most likely i'll get satio next, not for a few months though. will wait for the price to come down a couple of hundred us$ first. be interesting to see when one of the networks gets hold of it, it'll probably be selling though for $1500+ i'd say.

Yeah I'd say so. $1500 for Satio sounds reasonable when you look at Vodafone's X1 price. Of course it isn't actually reasonable. Almost bought Aino this evening. Will give it another day's thought though because apparently Expert Infotech's website thinks I have an invisible item in my cart which they're charging me extra shipping for! I have contacted them.

Just looking at the SE NZ website, it shows the 'Satio a', the 'Aino a' and the 'X2 a' as well as their 'non a' counterparts. To me that suggests both Vodafone and Telecom will be picking up these three phones.

Yeah, I noticed that too.
The competition from XT has really caused Vodafone to smarten up their act as far as sourcing phones in a timely manner.
I don't think Satio will sell for $1500 because most people will percieve it to be a high end feature phone not a smartphone and $1300 is about the limit of what people will pay for a phone that doesn't have access to an App Store and doesn't come with a data plan.
Anyone smart enough to be able to make use of the X1's feature set will also be smart enough to source it from an importer. Vodafone need to get real and understand that the best way to sell these expensive phones is with a voice/txt/data plan and a decent subsidy ala iPhone. $120 subsidy for and other manufacturers is a joke alondside $480 iPhone subsidy and benefits like 3GB data and 1000 PXT per month free.

I noticed that one too. Maybe Vodafone will get it later, but then notice how the C905 is on there? It's not very accurate obviously. I have put the C905 in the "Not coming to NZ" section of the first post.

From speaking with SE NZ, I get the impression the phones are available for Telecom, Vodafone and 2Degrees to choose from but whether the option is taken up is a different matter. The networks probably get a couple of devices for testing and evaluation purposes and maybe a large corporate could twist their arms for a particular model if the features are unique, but otherwise we just have to wait, or buy from an importer.
Call/txt phones are endlessly popular and are mostly bought on price. Feature phones though are a limited market and just how many 5.0Mp camphones do Vodafone think they can shift per month? This limits the number of models that a network will support and unfortunately NZ is a small market, which is not inclined to spend much on phones/services and even less on mobile data. The exception of course is the iPhone which practically sells itself and is still gathering momentum.

Yeah I agree, and I got the same feeling after I read about your conversation with SE too.
Speaking of SE I have ordered myself a new phone. An SE U10i Aino from Expert Infotech.

I wish I had enough money for any phone right now. I dont think $14.50 could even afford a sciPhone
