The evidence on ground as elaborated by me earlier suggests it is

Many times, content is the product of having enough people show up

My observation is that most people access Esato via WAP. To confirm, check the first 1,500 posts on this thread; most read "This message was posted from....", indicating WAP browsing.

Both Mtel and Vmobile have GPRS, but no-one on their networks seem to use it. Could it be that most people who saw the potentials of GPRS already have a Glo line?

That's a general Esato thing. Over 50,000 members, but probably less than 1,000 post regularly. I am sure that's the same scenario on most forums and threads.
and like I said, if we have a critical mass of regular posters, there will always be something intelligent to discuss.

Just so I don't get classified as a statistic of those who check-in without making any posts, here's my post. Methinks most posters have found somewhere more interesting to spend their time.

@amby: I doubt it. But you may be right.
Here's a brief list of the prolific posters in the days of free GPRS. This list contains those who made this thread tick. Let me know how many of them are posting elsewhere and where:

Will somebody please get my name off that list? How will I post when there are no NiteShifters? When the 'critical mass' that held this forum together informed us he was taking a break what did he expect...we all went on break.

By this I take it that you are refering to the fellow known as AYA I have never been comfortable when things revolve around one person - and especially when that person is me.
Does it mean that should I drop dead today (God forbid!), this thread would die? People should get involved in things because they see merit in it, and then keep it going even if no-one else cares.
BTW, my schedule is so loaded that I have had to shed more load, including my own enterprises. I had to remove Editor's Diary on GoSmartMobile, and even let others run DomainStandard et al, so I can attend to other important things.
I'm not complaining 'cos life is being good to me, but my being out of circulation ought not to reduce a vibrant thread like Proudly Nigeria to a graveyard :-
Well, at least someone has given us his reasons for being AWOL

@Somebody,
You became the "critical mass" because of your frequent posts(always online) and so you were able to engage any poster that dropped in. We need two or more of your type to sustain the forum, unfortunately no one comes close. Remember I went on break early in the year and my absence had no impact on the forum.
Who had more contact with other members on one 2 one basis? YOU
Who has physically met more members? YOU
I rest my suitcase( sorry my case).
By the way I miss Editor's diary and am working on two reviews for you; 6230i and 8800(my boss is a nokia freak).

@egunje: I don't lose my sleep over OBJ and 2007. He left in '79 and I am very positive he will honourably leave in 2007. My concern is if his predecessor will continue with the reforms.
@AYA; I travelled to Asaba two weeks back and the gprs signal on my ppc was ON for most part of the journey...good coverage by glo.

OBJ is on his own jare. He'll leave come 2007, and for good, too
@brym: Glo is fast catching up with MTN in terms of coverage. However, the GPRS signal you saw on your phone most of the time may not necesarily be Glo's

@Everyone; sorry guys for my abscence, been given more responsibilities (without pay) at work, so less free time to gist.
@AYA, If the GPRS signal is not Glo's then whose is it?
What do you guys think about MTN's free sms, and increased access days.

@angel: MTN is testing GPRS; and both Vmobile and Mtel now have GPRS as well. Seeing a GPRS signal on your set (depending on the particular set) could mean anyone of the above.
Good one there by MTN, these new validity periods. Good things do come from Nazareth!

Well done Aya, the regulars seem to be returning. Welcome back Brym, Angelgirl. @Aya: I have a friend who requires internet access over GPRS on his notebook pc. The options are 1. Using the in-built modem on his SE S700i and a data cable 2. Using a cardphone like the nokia D211 or SW aircard750. What would you recommend and why? If it's up your alley, PM me with a quote.

This is interesting. Did someone go call you guys or did you just show up by yourselves ? This feels like revival!!
And don't forget to thank our South African friend brix25. A comment/question by him seemed to be the catalyst of this re-awakening.
Now, I dont want to hear anything more about someone being the most regular, or most anything. Let's each take this thread as our personal responsibility and see if it wont do so wel.
