Well, that something I didn't expect SonyEricsson to do....
According to BengalBoy: I can now say that "Touch Flo" is working on my S.E.X1 and is not merely a file in the system OS. So, that should answer one unknown about the S.E.X1 that hasn't been answered on other sites.

@NiekyG
LOL, I read that review on Bengal Boy of the X1, have to say it's one massive review, very in-depth. The women add some sparkle to it I think the digital pimp would sell em for an X1 haha. |

Hi all,
Just curious if as most of you believe that HTC is just building the X1 for SE how come it is know running a HTC propriety app such as Touch Flo? Doesn't that suggest or even confirm that HTC's involvement is in fact much more than just building it for SE and SE have done all the software for it?
Any thoughts on this latest bit of news?
Marc

@Dogmann, here's some ideas:
--TouchFlo is a WM app and X1 is a WM device that also meets the hardware requirements to run TouchFlo.
--Does the TouchPro run X-Panels? That's what I want to know.
--Certainly HTC wouldn't make a device that creates a bigger splash in the marketplace than it's own competing product (TouchPro).
--It's an SE, get over it. What's the big deal if HTC manufactures it or provides the hardware platform? That saves R&D time for SE.
@Everyone
What device is more appealing to you? The X1 or the TouchPro.

Logic that TOuchFlo is a WM s/w and X1 is a wm phone therefore is bundled with it is definatley flawed, I dont see Etens, Toshiba or Samsungs coming with TouchFlo. TouchFLo is HTC proprietary software. And it must be included in the original deal with SE, like I always said SE design+panels+other additional stuff(with help for HTC of course)
Once the touchpanels can be ripped from the X1 it can be run on any device with sufficent hardware, including the Pro, if touchflo 3D is ripped that can run on the X1 as well.
The TouchFLo you see in the X1 file system is nothing but the kinetic scrolling features as well as the enlarge start menu and task bar and other additional tiny bits to make it more finger friendly, not the 3D interface on the Diamond and Pro. Thats what the panels are there for.
X1 and Pro are niche products, they wont sell in large numbers, HTC will be making a decent profit on the X1 and as long as the profits are pouring in they wont care wheather the X1 is selling or the Pro is selling, they get their money either way. Actually they'd get more as now they;ve got SE fans such as yourself buying the X1 who would never have considered a HTC product otherwise.
Yes it is an SE and a good effort at that, the end user does'nt care who did the h/w or s/w on the phone, its the badge that matters , BUT the X1 is not SE engineering but HTC engineering, bottom line it does'nt matter as long as the end product is good.
X1 vs Pro
After playing with the Diamond I'll go X1 as the Diamond felt a bit plasticky, plus I fell in love with the Diamond screen, my TyTn II looks like something out of the stone age when compared to it , and the X1 should be even better. But will reserve my judgement till I actually see both. Hell I might even just go and buy an iPhone which is really tempting at the moment.
Regards,
Akshay

Hasn't it long ago been established that the X1 is based on an HTC hardware platform? I don't remember anyone stating otherwise. What is the point of bringing it up constantly, though--to discredit the obviously great SE design of the X1?
Yes, HTC is the ODM of the SE X1 mobo. Big deal, what's new?
Bottom line, the X1 is the better phone, as of now, and it's not an HTC design HTC is simply just work for hire. |

HTC Design + s/w solutions it looks like now does'nt it.
THe X1 is not better than the Pro and the Pro is not better than the X1. One has what the other lacks and vice cersa. Its whats more important to you in the end and what suits your needs. Lets jsut hope both of them release within the next month
