@WhyBe
I've always loved UIQ and still do. Unfortunately SE/UIQ screwed it up so much so that it fell behind and became uninspiring. If this new foundation didn't come to being I still would have held up hope that UIQ would bounce back and that I would ultimately get my desired device from SE in particular, since I always felt that they could come up with the best UIQ smartphone if they put their minds and might into it.
When it comes to WM I'm not keen on it but am willing, make that forced by circumstances, to try it. I know about plenty support when it comes to the OS but I just don't like it. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up loving it and decide to go with it but I highly doubt it.
Now, looking at the new Symbian foundation with Nokia, SE and Motorola contributing their systems there's bound to be really excellent outcome. Right now I'm just going to relax and wait for the final product which I'm almost sure will be mind blowing.
As they say the jury is still out there so I'll patiently wait while getting acquainted with the X1.

How so? Do you think it will be an equivalent to WM or iPhone OS? Or just a bigger better Symbian? |

I think it has the potential to be quite powerful. S60 is quite good on its own and then there's UIQ which I honestly think is the most powerful of the two. We're talking about the three major contributors with different ideas and experiences here and hence the huge potential. I'm not in a position to say that it would outdo the iphone or WM but it may just be better than those.

I bothers me about as much as not having 10MP camera in the phone
Read this article on why there are not more colors on most WM devices. |

Well it is not that big problem if you have 65k display... If the operating system features doesn't allow much, they can probably put display with vivid colors and it will be good imo

And if the put the vivid colors display, we have nothing to worry about. XPERIA's display will be as good as the other phones .

Every Review so far states that the screen is absolutely amazing. Have never in the past six months heard anybody say anything else than that it rocks!
I am sure there is nothing to worry about concerning the screen |

That's a great link - explains it really well. Like Mpx in cameras it seems there are other things that are just marketing battles too

Well of course there are other things... It is not only the camera Mpix... The market's companies are competting for the "ultimate multimedia device" imo. They all want to be at the top, so cameras are not the only thing going forward. Any part of sofware/hardware counts in the competition

It's mostly consumers who don't truly understand specs. They gravitate toward the higher numbers (megapixels, gigabytes, color, etc.). The companies only play into that for profits.
If there was a way for X1 to have a 24bit screen without the CPU compromises, then I'm all for it. Otherwise, 16bit is fine for me. |
