Unfortunately so. But they aren't too bad. It's a prototype afterall, whereas the touches were released already and the i900 is almost at liftoff. Lots of time for SE to improve the quality, and I'm sure they can.

The Diamond pics looks best. I wonder why Touch Pro and Diamond don't look the same? It looks like the X1 has a dirty or scratched lens. The X1 pics look hazy...very unlike BengalBoy pics with X1. The i900 shows proof that more megapixels doesn't mean better pictures

Did you notice the EXIF data of the X1 pictures
Quite strange IMO, suppose either those pics are taken by a rather early prototype or that is not X1 at all.

They're not blurry. They're diffused. HUGE difference. If they were blurry, it would be either the camera module or the person taking the photos' fault. Diffusion is a whole other story, and is mainly about colours - faded colours and over-exposed whites. In the case of the first photos, it's not really hard to see why the whites are over-exposed. The focus is on the trees (a darker area), so the camera adjusts to the dark area, and bang, you'll end up with over-exposed areas - in all of the photos, although the X1 and Samsung's Omnia perform worst.

So basically this is a software issue?

it may be software or hardware, but why is that on this test, the captured picture from x1 looks like from a P900/P910i capture e.g. white balance, colours etc are worst ever.. its very different from bengaboy x1 captured. Well it's still a proto so will wait for the flagship phone before finalizing our analysis..

Yep, it's software only. Anyhow, I think this is an old software, as I've seen better from X1 in similar circumstances.

Well softwares may wary in different prototypes... The real power of the X1 camera should be seen when the oficial phone is out (with oficial bug free firmware)... This will take some time though...

I think 3GPP videos are a bit lower quality than the PC ones... But not 100% sure though

Well, factors beyond my control have made the X1 my next phone without any shadow of doubt. I'm referring to the formation of the symbian foundation. I'm not about to buy S60 nor UIQ at this stage even though it is said that the new platform would be backward compatible with S60.

I'll use the X1 till the new OS comes into effect and products based on it are released, only then will I buy from a manufacturer that offers me a better product.

When you have the X1 + WM7, do you think you'll even want to return to Symbian? How great can the "new" Symbian be?
