@Dheeraj...I ve 2 Bb connections installed aswell...7 star @ 512 kilo Byte/sec (13000MB limited in a yr 4 Rs.5200/. So I use it when I need) & Hathway @ 256kB/sec (unlimited @ 990/month. Its installed but not active as I don't need it)...I get a download speeds of 65k"B"yte/sec & 32kB/sec respectively.
So U C airtel & tata workout way cheaper & faster.
@All...lets fix a time & try 2 work Wingate here itself as I got 2 many PMs & I don't think I can chat with each seperatly or lets C...blu suggested I start a new thread so its easier 2 find, when some 1 needs 2 search...I m on my way out but will be back in abt 2 hrs...What say ???

Hello, guys! I'm in Delhi (east delhi), using trick, sometimes it works, sometimes no... longest session i had - 1.5 hourss, but usually data stops flowing much earlier, & i'm getting reply "no proxy responce".
Most of time during a day GPRS not available at all (not available/busy).
Dl speed - 4 kb/sec max, phone - Nokia 6600 (sucks a lot, i guess).
Is it any sense in moving to postpaid and getting MO for 500 Rs/month? will it be more stable, or faster, than my current `tricked` connection? Will my IM (icq) work with MO? Is MO better than f*ckin' NOP? |

@has33
Thats a better idea. Pls start a new thread and post the configuration details in steps. For ppl like me who get pathetic speeds of just 5kbps and no edge coverage, this will be of some serious help. Thanks.

Have you set ur browser to use wingate proxy localhost:80? And do we really need to start vpn engine? The prob i am facing is with dns and i cant browse thru wingate proxy even thru a single connection. Wingate is unable to use Airtel dns and my dns log is just a pile of bounce request errors.

Wingate runs its own http proxy. On wingate, configure the www proxy server service to use Airtel proxy. Then set ur browser http proxy to localhost and port to 80 . Anyway, it didn't work for me coz of dns problem. Will have to wait for has33's post.

How much speed you are getting with Internet Explorer's Default download manager after bridging 2 Airtel Live connections? I'm not able to bridge these connections. I'm not getting any reply in either browser or DAP after bridging.

The wingate trick is to make the download manager download a file in 2 streams. So this wont work with internet explorer as it downloads file as a single stream. Just follow those steps on the first post of the thread created by hass and then apply the modifications to that as i have mentioned on that thread. Flashget lets us use separate wingate proxies for each file. This way i could get speeds of about 9 to 14 kbps . I guess that option should be there in dap too. If you have trouble configuring, let me know specifically.
