Congratulations JC and well done!

@GUCCI

That was me in that white R8.

I am busy test driving the Blackberry Curve that my sister upgraded to this monday. She says she doesn't like it so I have been having it since tuesday to see if I can handle my (hopefully) Bold 9700 seeing that they are the same phone except the 3G difference.

There are a few things I don't like. I wonder if you can corroborate that for me GUCCI by either using it or finding out from your moms.

I'll post my final impressions later.

Motorola's Android-powered 'BACKFLIP' has pretty strong iPhone styling cues, methinks:

Rhino
Great to hear that from someone who's used it for that long,as i have read some horror stories at M-R and MyBroadBand that realy make me nervous even though so far i have had zero issues.
Dups!
LOL!! Im disappointed,You couldve atleast got a Aston Martin Vantage, or a Porsche Cayenne GTS
Ask away,il answer best i can
Jc
Ye bro,saw that in the Nexus topic, lol,so cellphones arent all that bad,we can all add 'Kills Alzheimers' as a built-in feature to our phones, well. . .except the iPhone, but i heard theres tons of apps in the AppStore that do this.

@GUCCI

LOL! You sure have high standards! Next time I'll use my Bugatti Veryon

Okay, here are my impressions on the Curve 8520.

Out of 10
Screen- 9. It is superb considering that the resolution is 320X240.
Processor- 7. I expected a much better performance to be honest.
Keypad- 6.5. Cramped and too tiny even though the tactile feedback is good. The Bold 9000 was brilliant, better than any phone I used/tried before. The P1 is definitely better than the Curve.
Battery- 5. The only other phone I know with such poor battery life is my Motorola V8.
Call quality- 8.5. Here it really excels, not a Motorola but darn close.
Signal reception- 8. I think Nokia still is the king of reception closely followed by SE and Blackberry did suffer here and there by fluctuating in this regard.
Build quality- 8. Seemed well put together though I am concerned by the rubber sides over time.
Music quality- 6. The clarity was not that good and I felt a lack of midrange and high pitched sounds.
?OVERALL
It is a so so phone.

Oops, forgot about my queries.

Has your moms experienced any freezes? This one froze about two times the last few days.

The ring volume seems rather low. The screens went blue on me while receiving a call. It happened twice. Any of those issues with your mom's Curve?

There is one feature I really, really loved, I thought it really was brilliant! The speed dial using the keypad. When I read it on Gsmarena I didn't think much of until I tried it. It is unbelievably brilliant!

I am left wondering if the 9700 is the phone for me after its sibling turned out a bit disappointing.

Dups!
The screen is 480x360,ye its fantastic.very bright and crisp.
Im shockd you've had bad batt life was it constantly online or something? Sounds like a faulty unit there.
My mums one hasnt had any freezes but it had or has this issue with the keypad unlock code when unlocking the phone crashes after confirming and then whipes EVERYTHING out, happened twice now,so she doesnt use that keypad lock anymore, realy strange issue and it seems to only be hers.
As for low ringing go to Profiles- Normal (or what ever you use that is Active)-Phone- Volume- its set to Medium on my mums with the Ringer_Bonjour ringtone and its pretty loud,a bit annoying to.
EDIT:
Oh you have a 8520 there, my mums is a 8900 Curve, that has a larger 1400mAh batt, the 8520 has 1150mAh so that could explain the batt life, and ye 8520 has 320x240 res screen, lol,my bad. I dont think that 8520 is a good benchmark or it doesnt give you a clear idea of how the bigger 9700 would be like IMO. You have a phone that realy is inferior to the P1 there. I hope what i wrote about the volume helps though.
Gola
Nah,Il check it out bro,thanx!
Yep MXit SUCKS on S60v5,its okay though,im hardly on anyway, rather FB and Twitter.

Last week, District 9 came out here on DVD. Tonight we finally got round to watching it.

Wow. As Wikus van der Merwe probably would've said, ''fokkin' excellent.''
Not without its flaws, but bloody good for what it is.
