@ascariss
I think the NFC problem is due to the limitation on Microsoft windows. If I'm not mistaken, as of now, only browser is supported through NFC (you can send the web page to your pc) and not photos or others. You can try the NFC feature with Bravia. It works nicely. |

Ah that explains why the browser opened up, hopefully this will be solved in 8.1. My bravia has no nfc, but I can throw pictures at it threw wifi, which is nice |

I got around 7 hours off light use from first charge today. But I think I had WLAN on most of the time and didn't have power savings on either at stock 60% brightness (some of that time the phone was shut off completely). I'm new to smart-phones so this will be a steep learning curve. So far the background noise is not as bothersome to me now as it was i n the showroom. It is still there when I took mostly 8mp Auto pics but some pics outside during sunset of flowers came our really nice with large aperture and pretty nice blurred background. My wife was impressed and thought they were professional photos. Given the right natural lighting it is fairly easy to take good close-ups. My screen seems ok (got it from Handtech today), but I've not really played with the brightness. The dynamic range is very good. The info-pic is pretty cool as we bought some green tea cookies here in China, I took a pic of the bar code on the back and the ingredients and I'm not sure if it just copied all the writing from the pic or actually pulled it from a database, but it gave a plethora of details about the manufacturer and ingredients and the nutritional value. Hasn't worked on any landmarks yet as I just took pics of storefronts.
When puttting the front screen protector on I highly suggest to not follow the directions and wipe the fresh screen with that teeny cloth. I thought I should and that just made the screen into a microfiber dust magnet and I eventually bent and screwed up my screen protector.

@ascariss - thanks for posting pics! they screen probably could look better, but i don't think they are terrible? i think it's to be expected that such a light background will get washed out at a wide angle.. but i have no idea what it would look like on the S2.. so *shrug*
in other news..

@moogoo, ya the screen isn't awful, but it depends what background image you use and how bright the screen is. Congrats on your Z1, welcome to the club

@ascariss - looks pretty decent. white balance could be improved a bit, i think.. but it doesn't look like you have that right side blur.. though it's a bit difficult to tell from that pic for me. (i'm no expert). and thanks!
Initial impressions:
wow.. it's big. i put my XS up to it and it dwarfed my XS like it was a toy! but surprisingly, like others have said, it is very comfortable in the hand. I have large palms, but short fingers (damn genetics!) so one handed use isn't comfortable, but that's ok. it will be more of a deterrence for me not to use it in the car while driving. it is gorgeous. look and feel of the materials are hand over fist above any other phone i've ever owned.. I am in love.
Just plugged it in for charging. I haven't done anything else yet. but once it's done charging, i will play around a little bit. not too much cause i have tons of work to do
i will, however, do a HHT pic later tonight. and it looks like a nice day, so i will snap a few shots later on my lunch break.
expect many more photos and a full review late next week. i want to really spend some time with it first and get that battery broken in..
anyone who has questions, feel free to ask. i will answer when i can.

Is the notification led really visible from behind?
Thanks! ^_^

^no, it's not. but it is pretty bright and a nice touch, i think. different from the old, standard dot. anyways.. you cannot see the notification LED from the back.

i wanted to proof why 3gb on a phone is useless..
i took my vaio E (i5 480m 4gb ram)
and started opening applications and software...
opened 10~ metro apps..
around 50 chrome web pages (10 videos playing on youtube, one of them in fullhd) bunch of facebook pages, and another heavy pages..
i have opened skype...
played on VLC, a full HD 265x mkv film (8bit)
at this point i hit 3gb of ram usage!!!
then i have opened another 15 tabs on IE 10, 10 of them where playing a video at 480p on youtube, and another 5 msn.com pages.
then i have opened windows media center..
3.7 gb ram ....
at the end another video on IE... then my computer has become unresponsive, bottleneck from the hardisc (note that i had still 200mb of ram free! )
so there you have it guys, if you want to watch 20 videos simultaneously while navigating on 40 different websites at the same time and above that watch mkv full hd video... then yeah you will need 3gb of ram.
if not, then it's USELESS!!
