Another phone has hit the FCC PM0841, here is the link to the docs

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/ea[....]iblICQ%3D%3D&fcc_id=PY7-PM0841

I sat for an hour trying to make a sense of the FCC IDs and connecting them to upcoming phones but things became too complicated and jumbled so I gave up.

A solution for you is:
1. Do not wait. buy what is available right now because there will always be a better device around the corner. problem solved.

Which is why I jump ship and just got myself an s6 edge. Coming from a bunch of SE phones to Xperia T and then to ZL, I've been waiting for that "one" phone to replace my ZL, but felt that z-z3 was not a significant upgrade with speed bumps and minor upgrades here and there. Hopefully they make some good changes for the z5 to make me come back.

surprisingly I'm still using Xperia Z1 and I couldn't find a single reason to change my phone. I couldn't find single reason. After upgrading to lollipop, it is even harder to find the reason. With lollipop, my Z1 is damn great.

Anyway, I'm hoping the next xperia will have significant upgrade compared to Z1 so I will have reasons to justify my upgrade.

Highly doubt that changing the cheap plastic back to glass and curving the sides are significant nor revolutionary upgrades.

same here, but really wish to have some of the smart features, like pick up phone call instantly when you put it up against your ear.

That's the thing see. Most normal human beings aren't infected with the insatiable desire to have the absolute latest technology as soon as possible. They tend upgrade their phones after 2, maybe even 3 or 4 years, as they see fit. They don't have the cash to blow on small rectangles stuffed with electronics.

So, the Z5 not being as technologically advanced as it could be is meaningless. Before Apple started designing and fabricating its own silicon....really up until the iPhone 4S, iPhones weren't the most technologically advanced smartphones you could buy. Yet people bought them in droves because they are more interested in the cool factor associated with owning an Apple product and other non-quantifiable aspects such as hardware design and so-called "user experience".

Sony can't and shouldn't be expected to turn that around overnight. Certainly, having a SD820 on board won't make that enormous a difference in the grand scheme of things. At best maybe a few thousand or hundred thousand tech entheusiasts will buy them. The remaining millions that Sony want to sell it to, won't give a flying f**k.

Stuff like the in credible build quality and waterproofing and excellent camera (it is excellent, perhaps not the best, but certainly not as unusable as some of you hyperbolic folks tend to make it out to be) paves the way for Sony to rebuild their reputation for excellence. Certainly this is seen in the UK, where I see dozens of Sony Zx's on the tube when I commute into London. They need a bigger push in the US, but before that they need to streamline the business, so that its making a profit on whatever sales it does make, rather than trying to gun for maximum volume without considering the costs of doing that immediately.

Looking forward to see what design changes and camera changes the Z5 brings, if any at all. I'm certain build quality will remain top-notch and the waterproofing will remain.

Not everybody knows about RAW shooting, but I will love to see Sony Mobile implement these features in their phones too at least for photography enthusiasts.

Sony Mobile Division Cutting 1000 Employees

The mobile division at Sony has been struggling and the latest example of its struggle is a report stating it will cut hundreds of employees. Local site 8till5 reports 975 jobs are being cut in Sweden and Sony has confirmed it is technically cutting just 575 redundant employees. All of the other people are consultants.

With this confirmed employee cut, Sony is losing half of its workforce in Sweden. The cut leaves Sony with around 1200 people working in that country. Sony's layoffs were spread across all departments in the mobile division.

Even though Sony has recently announced the Xperia Z4 and the Xperia Z3+, its mobile division is not doing well and the Xperia phones can't compete with Apple and Samsung. It's been reported Sony has considered selling off the whole division.

Those were the only changes? Significant enough for me coming from a ZL.

Yeah. You get equally the same significance upgrading to a Z3.

The news is about cutting employees, but they mentioned the selling as it was reported before...
