BTW after the update the Wi-Fi takes 10-15secs to activate... Previously it was activated instantly...

is it also happening to you??

It would be bad news.

Okay guys, as I had said, it needed more real world testing. After using the phone for a few days with the update, I can say for sure that the battery life has diminished The overnight drain is now between 3-5% in stamina mode wrt to just 1% earlier!

There are no noticeable changes even though the update file is huge. Hoping Sony fixes the battery life in 4.2.

@ALL

Btw, just out of curiosity, what are the options available to us after a couple of years, with respect to replacing the battery? Can we do an 'apple' and send the phone to the Sony service center where they can replace the internal battery?

I love to have a better option like Trade-In, giving back your old XZ + cash to get a newer devices

Edit: the Docomo version also received an update to day with Pre-Installed Screen Calibration tool like ZL
Do you have that app in your device?

You know what irks me? The battery life.

Check this out:

http://blog.gsmarena.com/htc-[....]st-is-complete-results-are-in/

I fail to understand why the HTC one, with a 2300mah battery is able to give around 10 hours of video playback while the Sony Xperia Z can barely manage 5.5 hours. That's roughly half!

how difficult is it to extract juice for Sony? If the competition can do it, I think Sony can too.

I'm not cribbling. I love my Z. But it's these small things that make up the overall experience. And battery is one of the biggest concerns in today's smaphone arena. The battery life is worse with the New update.

I'm going to start a thread on talk.Sony forum on this. Here's hoping Sony improves battery life in 4.2 update.

Sean please , stop posting the screen comparison again and again
honestly if you don't like Z screen you either wait for another good screen model from SONY or go for the SIV & the One
it is not good to post the thing over and over

I've been thinking about what could be causing this underwhelming screen performance from Z.

I believe the actual display isn't the issue but rather the type and/or thickness of glass used over the top. The display doesn't seem as close to the surface as on other devices and seems to have an awkward refractive index creating lots of internal refraction.

I know seems counter intuitive to what we are led to believe is the process for the screen on Z. We're told the glass and touch sensitive layers are made together to reduce the gap from the display to the top surface, which is why I think it may be down to the Dragontrail glass. Perhaps it carries a refractive index which is causing the (slight but noticable) washing of colours or perhaps it's minimum thickness including touch layer for the strength Sony wanted is still slightly thicker than handsets like TX even after the touch layer is fused in using the new techniques.

Anybody able to shed any light?

The phone will set it up for you. But if you want to feel safe, format it from phone.

Am I only one who thinks XZ has got amazing battery life?

Recently there was a time when my XZ had only 5% left and it went on for more than an hour on Low Battery Mode and mind you, I made 3 calls in between and one of the call went on for more than 20mins.

I usually use Stamina Mode all the time and it has given me brilliant results.

Though I dunno about Video Playback but when I listen to music for an hour it only drains max 5%

Edit: 3G on 24/7, Heavy Calls/Twitter/WhatsApp etc. I don't play games. When I am on a call for more than half and hour it loses only 1% of battery.
