Not too long ago I was talking about trying the new Powerball lottery so I can buy the Mercedes Benz S65 AMG and the BMW X 5M and... Okay, I'm now pushing it.

Anyway, my mother and my brother won 800 000GBP and 1000 000GBP respectively.
That's about 20 million rands combined!

That's if they had really won. You see, some idiots sent both sms messages saying their numbers had won that much and they had to contact them by email. The first to receive was my mother and I knew immediately that it was a scam. The text claimed it was a world cup promotion and she had to send the supplied code by email. My mother was all over me saying she had won after I repeatedly told her it was a scam. I sent the email to satisfy her curiosity and the response was that she had to come to England to claim her prize which settled it. My brother's was just another one of those strange promotions- not world cup this time- and I told him ignore it as the same thing happened to mom a week earlier.

I wonder what their success rate is like with these scams. I'm sure that there are more than a few gullible fish out there who'd willingly part with a few grand in order to rake in a potload of shekels.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

@ Kryptik:
That's true, boet.
I reckon they could (and probably do) easily make mega-bucks from people's gullibity. A few suckers a day out of the thousands spammed, and they've got some shekels for not lifting too many fingers once the worded scam has been produced...
Easy pickin's unfortunately, methinks...

Yep, truly sad that a number of people fall for these scams.

@Kryptik

I like your signature, hadn't noticed it before. Witty!

Guys, I'm really itching to get that Rachael phone. That is my dream phone, okay, minus the QWERTY keypad but it is something great from SE for a long while IMO.

The news rumours are the 32GB internal, OLED screen but I am more than happy with its processor, capacitive screen with that lovely 800 by 452 resolution and the rest of the original confirmed specs.

If it indeed comes with 32GB of storage and OLED screen then it is a bonus to me though I don't really feel OLED screens are advanced enough for outdoor usage.

Come on SE, release the damn sexy Rachael already!

Howzit all,

How is everybody doing?
Over here iv been quite good, im busy with my second semester of college, iv got about two months left of this semester, then we have a three week holiday, then ill come back to college for the last semester which should be done around about april, once all my study's are done, ill have to work for two or so years, untill i can write my trade test.
Onto phones, my mom's contract ended this month. So i asked her if i could take her upgrade, and she said yes. She wanted to change her contract to a talk 130, and she is with nashua mobile, on their website they said we can get a free x1 on it. So i asked her to get that. Nashua mobile first argued with her saying its not free. After about 3 days of my mom arguing with them and my mom threatening them on the power of the word of mouth. They decided to give us the phone for free. Plus 1grand gift voucher and they dropped the monthly price to R395 a month. Lmao i love my mom. Lol. When i come home at the end of november ill get the phone. And in november my laptop is upgrading, im thinking of getting an apple mac laptop. Ill see what i can get once i can upgrade it.

I hope everything is good for all you guys,
Have a good evening, Hope to speak soon. Enjoy.

Im going to request a free CD from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu Need those precious megabytes for my new Trance collection.

I ordered mine 3 days ago. Last time that i ordered a disk, it took 8 weeks to get to me, and it only cost R12 in postage. LOL, Ubuntu has a load of stuff you still have to download after installation (I think it was a bout 240MB last time, including all the codecs etc)

I am going to change all my internet cafe's computers to the new ubuntu once i get it.

I got a virus on one of my workstations and installed Puppy Linux (only 105MB) on it as a test run and the clients seems to enjoy working on something different. Even had a few standing around, waiting for that machine to open up while other were open, just because it looks different.

@Rhino I might just download the Netbook remix version for the Acer Aspire and wait those 8 weeks for the CD to arrive to put on my desktop.Unless you think the desktop version will work fine on the AA1.It shouldnt be a problem. It came with Limpus Lite on it which I removed and replaced with Windows XP and it runs smooth.Maybe I'll just wait for the CD.The Netbook remix version is optimized for smaller screens so it could be the better choice .Will do some searching around for AA1 users who have tried the latest Ubuntu and see what they had to say.

Nice bro! Congrats on your X1! Talk130? Had no idea X1 was free on it, thats the very same contract im on,but i may move to a TopUp590, seeing as i do more texting than calls, ive got +650 free call minutes just sitting there, plus add the SMS bundle and Data Bundle my bill ends up at a min of around R640 a month, figured with the 590 i can buy a Data bundle and still have loads of airtime to call and text with, without going over R590 per month, plus phones on both TopUp590 and Talk130 require the same pay-in.
All
Did a lil Google search on the NOKIA N86 on Vodacom, it has a R1400 pay-in currently on my contract and TopUp590, less than the Htc Hero, hmmm, going to be difficult to choose between those two, will be interesting to see how much they both are in late February next year.
