Just wondering . . . . How did you manage to intercept the traffic between ur mobile and Airtel server. Is there a mobile version of ethereal available?

Guys,
No need to panic. Even MO is not working properly. So I think its a temporary server down or some other problem. Lets hope for the best...

No. I don't see any problems with MO here. It's working even better since this trick was blocked. Now I'm getting over 6KBps speed during downloads(I was getting 5.4KBps in the past. Now it raised to 6.6KBps).

@AlanDS i mean if u r running web server or a squid proxy than u can easily configure ur server to accept certain byte of request.
With ethereal u can monitor more than 60,000 ports and almost all the protocol. it also support gsm protocol too.
but because i connect my mobile through ppp protocol so i can not monitor gsm traffic. |

hi anybody knows diff between gprs modem and hscsd modem? is airtel hscsd network ?????? k 510i has maximum speed of 5.4 kbps, does it uses hscsd modem or gprs modem (6kbps)on airtel. is airtel cs4????????
what is the maximum speed achievable using k 510i at full network speed
will airtel upgrade network to cs4
PLEASE READ THIS AND GIVE ME AN ANSWER |

@jairam
the main difference between gprs and hscsd is that
in GPRS a certain amount of bandwidth is shared amoung a number of users.....means that our connection stays active only while we send and recieve data......while our connection is idle....our time slots will be given to other users who need it ..... when we send data the gprs modem first requests for the availability of timeslots....then after receiving the timeslot the packet is sent...... remember timeslots are also used while we make calls too......this is why during peak hours.....our speeds reduce drastically..... since there r less number of timeslots available...... for a class 10 gprs phone a maximum of 4 download slots and one upload slot can be used...... but during peak hours...i get only 2 download slot and 1 upload slot this can be found out using networkmonitor..... since gprs is active only while we send or recieve data that is the reason why many operators charge per kilobyte..... but in airtel we pay monthly subscription.....
where as in HSCSD....... each user is allocated his own private timeslots....... the connection is active from the beginning till the end....... noone else would be able to use his timeslot and no need to send request for timeslots...... which gives us higher speeds..... thats why hscsd subscibers are charged per second....or minute......
theoretically hscsd is much faster than gprs but not economical....... through an hscsd connection if u r using 4+1 then one can get a maximum speed of 57kbps...... in gprs it would b 48kbps
airtel does not provide hscsd.....
as far as i know airtel uses cs-2 as their coding scheme...... if they would have used cs-4 then it would be "gprs+" which can give a max speed of 80kbps...... i dont think airtel would upgrade to cs-4 when EDGE is around.... here...
SE k510i is a class 10 gprs phone so u can achieve a maximum speed of
6KB/s

" thanks fr rply" Can i upgrade my k 510i to edge anyway?? if airtel does not provide hscsd then why do i get max speed of 43.2kbps=(8*5.4kBps) which is hscsd modem speed pls tell me whether k510i uses hscsd for dialup modem and gprs for mobile browsing??????????????????????????????? any method to get more than 6 (5.4) kbps ????? is here any advantage of my phone having hscsd with airtel????? which software measures speed accurately???????????
why dont i get 6 kbps max if k 510 i is class 10 gprs (48kbpsmax) even during non peak hours? (only 5.4)
do my phone have 2 modems?
if airtel were cs4 could class 10 phone give 80kbps speed with same hardware?
Will airtel launch 3G??? if so can we use free 3G by fooling airtel?? will they stop edge/gprs?
which phone have edge(sony ericsson)????????????????????????????
