@ MSYPOURS:
They're getting clever here by 'watering down'/disguising the costs, by creating attractive deals if you top up a certain amount each month, usually 15-20 a month (why not just get a contract then... ), then charging daily rates instead of per MB, combining with sms bundles, etc etc. However, if one doesn't opt for these 'bundles' , the cheapest is ASDA Mobile ( ASDA is a huge supermarket chainstore that is owned by America's Wal-Mart group). They use Vodafone's roaming.
http://www.asda-mobile.com/compare/
ASDA Mobile charge 20p (approx R2.60) per MB, but then you get more established networks like O2 who charge a whopping 3 (approx R40!) per MB if you don't take one of the bundle options! Vodafone charge 2 per MB, etc.
Have a look at the comparitive network call charges in the link above too, taking into account the current exchange rate.
Yes, the 2 countries have differences in their cellphone markets etc etc, but it still makes for interesting comparisons.

Call charges are not going down per se, it is the 'interconnection charge' (when calling another network other than yours, ie, Vodacom to MTN or Cell C and vice versa) that we pay for. It is currently R1.25 and the government (ICASA) wants it to be 60 cents.

Congratulations on being voted best African member.

I wish our prices would come down, but its unlikely. The current prices is high, but people are paying them, so the networks got no reason to reduce rates

It's about time we started paying reasonable prices for calls. What we're currently paying is a bit high but we have no choice,so the price cut news is warmly welcome.Let's hope materializes .

So i finaly got to play on the NOKIA N97, another mate got it lol he goes through phones like underwear, he had a BB Curve 8900 before, and before that a BB Storm. Anyway i take back ALL that i said about N97. I totaly loved it, the screen is so sensetive, not as sensetive as the iPhone's capacitive obviously but alot more than the 5800's screen. The build quality is excellent, didnt know the chrome painted rim was actualy metal, the plastic used at the back is what i realy liked, felt realy solid, almost a matte feel. The slide is very quick almost too quick, its rough, im scared it could get damaged over time, but its still very well done considering how firm and stable it is in both open and close position. The UI is fantastic, my mate doesnt care for the widgets so he turned them off, if i had it i think id do the same and just have a realy nice wallpaper taking up that absolutely stunning 3.5inch display. The phones speed is very decent, he has around 10GB of music and vids yet it runs just fine,no lag. Overall im very impressed, and i would love to have one in Black though, and to think it has 32GB built-in with an option to expand, realy nice, i still think NOKIA could have atleast given it more RAM, not 256mb,but 192mb would have been nice, it would still have around 75-80mb available at boot rather than just over 50mb it has now. Looking forward to seeing what the V2.0 firmware adds to it, apparently more RAM, internal mem and quite a lot of Symbian^2 Features, if its anything like what they did with N95,N95-8gb, N82 and N81 when adding FP2 features to them then im realy excited. its a shame Symbian^2 wont be completely back ported to the S60v5 devices though.
Dups! And Jmash
Thanx a lot guys!

Guys if the networks dont pay each other then this means pay less to us, when calling your home network its cheaper, bit expensive to foreign network, it shows that we are the one's paying that network. I called vodacom on my cellc sim it chowed R8.01 for 2min 45sec
EDIT: CONGRADULATIONS to you GUCCI.

Wooooow! Is that how it looks like?
It reads that Acer didn't show any pictures so what picture is that. That picture looks awesome! The specs tick all the right boxes. The question is how much support can I count on from Acer?
