@fatreg I meant the gear shifters
Another thing...is there any concept of using a "bell" (a sort of a bike horn) on bikes in the UK? There is in India.but methinks it sucks

i've seen a low end MTb here in Manila with halogen lights for motorcycle, horns and a small 12v battery also for a motorcycle, the D-I-Y was a bit ugly but with some touch ups and paintjobs, that may have looked good...

That's not so desirable. Well the bell i'm talking about is a mechanical device

mechanical tinker bells are innovative, though that may make my bike sound like my childhood day kiddie bmx..

@all you think it's feasible to order a bike online? Which are the sites that will ship to India? Will the expense be too high?
Thanks

Hey about the GT's, there are a few different materials that they use for there bikes, but most are the same. the Avalanche is exactly the same as a Zaskar. just the components are slightly downgraded. yours is 7000 series aluminium where as mine is triple butted cromoly. (stronger than alu but heavier) so i can jump off 6 foot walls....
anyway, i used to have a Heavy Tools Trial frame bulit up with Magura HS33 'Frogs' (Ltd edition) and some real sweet components, (Spent £1600)
was so quick i could woop any cannondale or porsche 911....
seriously i could do a 360 spin from standing still and hop up 75 steps at Milton Keynes train station....

@batesie one of our local shops here offered me a custom built a cromoly softail and it looked pretty cool specially the suspension, i think it's fox or something like that... i was about to buy it but then i came about testing a friend of mine's bike with another cromoly body, and i got a hard time pedaling through a rising road.. pretty heavy but i think it's worth it when you use it for extreme downhilling..
@ayush nah.. i havent seen any sport used mtb in manila with horns... though bicycle peddlers use horns in our country.. in my opinion, a louder voice would be better than horns.. shipping bike itself to your place would probably cost a fraction or even half price of a normal 500$ mtb... in india, do you have mtb shops which supplies bike parts? i think it's better to just do your own bike... ask first the shops of what makes and models of parts you can get and for how much.. do let us know... |

@BJ thanx for the reply. Well over here u can only get assembled bikes. U cant get custom bikes The bike industry is really down the pits here
So I think the best option in my budget will be an MTB from oer here. Did u see this bike? What do u opine? The only thing that bugs me is that they've written its for 9+ yrs ..wtf??

man, check out them bar-ends!
@ayush, how tall are you? if you're 5'10" or taller, i suggest u go for a size 21" or 22" frame bike. that TI looks like a 18" or 19" to me. or i could be wrong, i'm basing that on the "9+ years" remark.
