Anyone had a look at the BlueTake BT009 USB/BT thumb adapter thing?

Just ordered one off the www.dabs.com webiste for £36 inc VAT.

Any comments from existing users would be useful. It looks like an alternative to the MSI device.

Cheers

Yo peeps - anybody know where I can order the MSI Key in the UK or US?

Hmmm, took me a while to track it down..

they sell it in the US (http://www.knowledgemicro.com)

Around 51$..

Hmmm, the TECOM's BT3030 are also available (uses the same chipset, BroadCOM, also a CLASS 1 Device

at ones local COMPUSA store (49$ OEM'd as Belkin BT USB Adapters)..

The pretty purple Billionton USB sells @ eBay for around 45-50$..

Either way, make sure to get the latest

WIDCOM Bluetooth stack (1.2.2.13) from

http://www.tecom-us.com/asp/download.asp?id=138

It supports all those adapters (BOTH CSR and Broadcom devs)..

200m is for the Bluetooth adapter module (which is only for those msi mainboards with the special headers), the usb keys are for all PCs with USB ports works on a much shorter range (their claim is 25m at max transmission power)

you can use it for a small network (up to 7 devices in a network called a piconet (see sticky post for more info on technology)

it works much like a network card (which is what it actually is, but primaly designed for PANs, not LANs)

Hmmm, you sure about this? I thought the MS-6967 was a CLASS 1 Device rated up to 100M? (not class 2).

Hopefully, I'll get my T68m back soon flashed to T68i Darned Sony Ericsson - they don't do the upgrades here in the US, I had to pay some bloke to do it..

attached is the picture of the Billionton USB BT..

Those numbers were from the msi.com.tw product information website.

Quote:
Bluetooth® output power is categorized as either Class 1, 2 or 3 according to the level of the maximum output power: +20 dBm (100mW), +4 dBm (2.5mW), and 0 dBm (1mW). The range is approximately 100 meters with Class 1, the highest output, and approximately 10 m with Class 2.

Range may actually vary, or limited due to: weather conditions, power limitations, other devices using 2.4Ghz frequency(ISM) in the area.

@ GOwin

My f/ware revision is 272. When you use new driver it gives you a new option to upgrade firmware now.

Hmmm, looks like the support for the headset profile (or other profiles) seems more likely. :-)

It looks like TDK and MSI have released Widcomm BTW version 1.2.2.15 , The Tecom site still only has 1.2.2.13. Can anyone say what the differences are between them?

Is it possible to download from one manufacturer and use it with another product?
I am assuming the software is the same only the driver is different.

The release is dated 20-08-2002, so it must be pretty new.

it's weird because the TECOM 1.2.2.13 driver actually worked with the Billionton BT (CSR instead of Broadcom chipset) - the 1.2.2.15 MSI driver set didn't work for me when used with the Billionton BT (CSR chipset also just like the MSI).

It actually works, I just hacked the driver inf file a bit to add device ID's for the Tecom and Billionton BT - currently using 1.2.2.15

There is another version here

support.acer-euro.com/drivers/communication/usb_bluetooth.html

This says it is 1.2.2.20.
Havn't tried it yet so I don't know if it is any different.

I tried the 1.2.2.15 last night. There is a bluetooth audio driver in the .cab file. I installed it, but couldn't get it to work. But then I don't have a headset so I suppose that was inevitable.

I wonder if there is anything new in this version.

Oops, it actually says 1.2.1.20, oh well.

I got an msi bluetooth, and even after endless tweeking i can't make it work.
I can send files to my 7650, but not back to my pc.
As to my T68im i only managed to make the bluetooth control work, i can't end or receive anything, even the ericsson monitoring program and the Float's agent don't recognise the phone. Sombody please help
I paired the devices and i am able to do a dailup connection.
Float say's "Error 10047 in function connect (socket) address family not supported by protocol family " and the bluetooth program that comes with the device says that the file transfare protocole isn't available on my t68.
