I've not heard of anyone with an S700 yet. I'm guessing we'll have to wait for an update from Apple for official support.

I've got a developer pre-release version of 10.3.6 on my hard disk but I haven't dared install it to see whether that adds support for the S700/p910. The full official 10.3.6 should be out soon.

Are you just speculating, or do you have some firm info?

It's quite obvious that Apple will support these phone but how soon is 'soon'?

THere was an upgrade to10.3.6 just posted yesterday. I think it might support the s700. I made a hack to the files for iSync to get it to recognize my s700 a few weeks ago and it works fine.

Dude,

Read my post. My hack was for the s700 which is a much newer phone than the P800. iSync has worked with the P800 for over a year. In short, no hack needed.

Dude, read my post, I know the ISYNC Works with the P800, but does it work over cable?

If it does I need to find a hack FOR THAT.

You probably need a driver more than a hack. Are you connecting via USB or Serial? Either way, the only company that I know of that makes drivers for USB is Markspace. Their product: the Missing Sync connects via BT, Serial, or WiFi(depending on the device), and it works well. I am using it and have had connections recodnized in iSync for Palm and Pocket PC. You might want to start there to see if they have a product to suit your needs.

By the way, I just remembered. They do not yet have support for the Pxx series of phones. Better look harder for your dongle.

People,

I'm more than impressed with the amount of knowledge being bandied about but I cannot find an answer to my dilema.

I have just bought an iBook and have installed all of the relevant updates to it over the weekend. I have purchased a MacAlly bt dongle to let me sync my p900. Before you all groan 'sh1t..... not this old chestnut again!' let me continue.

I can syncronise the address book no problem but it will not let me sync the my iCal. In Address book it will not let me sms or dial/ voicemail or reject incoming calls. Nor will it recognise the callers (it will show the dialog box though-just to taunt me).

Having read all of the 17 pages in this thread plus ChrisMiles.info's stuff, Macosxhints.com...... the list goes on. I still cannot work it out.

1. to sort the address book i was doing the chrismiles.info thing but get stuck at item 4 ' Open ABDeviceCommandSets.plist with property list editor (from developer/applications/utilities' WHAT?? I'm hoping this isn't the same developer stuff that I chose not to install when I restored the hard drive on Friday!

Is there any easier way of doing this. I've had a Mac for 3 days and whilst I would gladly drown kittens rather than go back to my desktop pc..

2 iCal... Why wont it sync. Tried deleting the plist and rebooting. Been on to applecare for 3 hours on Saturday. The only conclusion they came to was to buy a dlink db 120 dongle rather than the new macally one i got!

I desperately want to have my phone and mac synced but am a bit nervous about starting to muck about with the coding at such an early stage. I can't believe I'm the only one to have this particular problem.

HELP.

1) The "property list editor" you mention is part of the Apple Developer Tools CD, which isn't usually supplied with a Mac, you get it from the Apple Developer site at: http://developer.apple.com/

You register for free and download the CD image (300mb) and the Property List Editor is part of that. There's also a shareware app that does the same here:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22659

2) Can't help with this one I'm afraid... I don't have a P800/900. Can you borrow another brand of BT dongle from someone to see if it helps?

Hi everybody,

Sometimes it's hard to know if the many USB Bluetooth dongles that are on sale are compatible or not with OSX... Well this site, http://www.osxcompatible.free.fr/, allows tou to check which accessories are compatible or not with your system.

The site is in french but I suppose you can quite easily understand the commentaries. It's consumer-made too, so if you want to add your own device you are welcome...

By the way I made some /// t39 icons for OSX, if you are interested just send me a PM.

Thanks Guys,

Just gone through the 17 page workaround on macosxhints and lo and behold.... it works!!!

Ecstatic is too mild a word. Can now sync iCal and Address book. Discovered that the telephone dialog box that pops up when someone calls now recognises the numbers and i can answer/ reject etc. I can also dial out using it.

I can't get my jabra 250 headset to connect tho. Tells me 'your hardware does not support headsets!' is this peculiar to my macally dongle or is it the same with all/ most?

Unfortunately i still cannot sms. Has anybody any idea of how to? From everything i have read it looks like this is never going to be possible on the symbian os.....

The contract on my p900 is up next month so maybe a new se phone is on the horizon (are there similar problems with the p910 or k700??). A shame really because i was finally starting to really get into the p900 (apart from the stupid bloody email client that cant accomodate hotmail [but that's really my problem for using such a crap service in the first place tho!])

For anyone else with similar problems, the pages Glenn mentions are:

I am a bad poster. Thanks Jools. Apologies for not referencing properly.....

Any thoughts anybody on the sms issue. Has anybody ever managed to get it working seamlessly with the 800 or 900? Is the p910 the exact same? are there any se phones that have all the requisite calender/ address book/ email/ blah but that can and do sync perfectly allowing you to do all the phone/ sms stuff?
