Carphone Warehouse have pulled other handsets too, and not all Sony Ericsson. That wasn't enough to make such a big story in itself.

I was also told that the silver versions remained on sale, so if that is true then there must be a little more to the story - that and the fact that branded models seemed to work fine.

I think there's a lot of misinformation out there - but I know the Satio has many issues (I use one every day) and it needs fixing. However, I wouldn't have returned my phone because of these issues. Many problems are just as likely down to S60v5 which would mean just as many unhappy people with 5800's, N97's and so on.

There were big problems caused by one of the 3.x updates, which affected a number of users. Nothing to do with some hidden security exploit. It was fixed, but Apple never really admitted the problem.

I've had plenty of problems with OS 10.4, 10.5 and now 10.6 - and Apple has had huge problems with batteries in the last two years or so.

But, I am not singling out Apple here - just pointing out that every manufacturer is having problems.

Compared to a hardware problem, firmware issues are at least fixable without having to send something off or go back to a shop and be without something for any length of time. Of course, I'd rather not have to do an update unless it's to add a new feature or service!

please tell us if the Media Bug is gone.
Download FPC Bench a good benchmark/system info for your phone.
Download Pocket Inclinometer for your phone's accelerometer.

I have just installed the new firmware on a black unbranded Satio. The first impressions are faster movements in menus in general, faster camera, file size on 12mp pictures is 3mb, and the loudspeaker sounds more aloud but no equalizer settings.

I dont have many media files, so i cant tell exactly if the media bug is fixed.

The main improvement i can see is that its a lot faster.
Touch screen is fast as well.
No applications i.e facebook or youtube
Lock seems to fixed now
No emoticons in text message
Standy Themes seeems to be fixed now.(not crashing any more)
Wifi dosnt stay on.
And the biggest change that phone ringing problem has been fixed. it rings the same time as it vibrates.

Thats all i hve found out. Guys try it out and keep us updated
