As far as it is possible to understand from Eldar's latest podcast, Satio will be produced with 8MP camera modules interpolated to 12MP... |

If it is really true that it is an 8mp camera interpolated to 12mp then he was right when he said that SE dont respect their customers, very sad imo. |

So that's the reason why the samples provided on USEB looks almost the same to the ones taken with a C905.

Why not wait till the actual white papers come out, instead of relying on Mr. Half truth's rants?
Seriously, Sony makes a 12MP camera module exclusively for phone use, then decides to forget all about it, stuffs an age old 8MP sensor onto their flagship phone, uses software to interpolate 50% more pixels and proudly proclaim supremacy!

all this Exmor blah blah is BS but interpolation theory is biggest BS I ever read here

Btw, all that talk about the pics looking like the ones in the C905, isnt it supposed to look like that? The whole megapixel theory is to make your pics look bigger and not better. So attaining the same quality at 12mp should be pretty acceptable for a beta model. |

No, People (including me) that has managed to see the amazing 12.1mp samples from sony.net should expect more but it seems like in the end we can only see the same bad post processing like in C905.

Hahahahahaha
Sorry but I have that reaction when ever I see someone quote a mental patients theory's haha.
Eldar has totally lost the plot and ANY credibility I had for him, SE peed him off so he's been on a childish rant spewing lies and crap all over the place ever since.
If you believe what he say's then you also loose credibility in my eye's. Don't believe a word he say's. |

It looks like it's using the same sensor as the c905 just with more megapixels on it, the c905 is a little less noisey.
Theres a bold claim on the sony site, Realizes high-definition image quality equivalent to compact digital still cameras i don't think so my 50quid canon will produce 100times better pics than a 1/2.5 cmos loaded with 12megapixels. |

It's the same with ANY mobile phone camera, I'll wait for the released firmware shots myself but your Canon will have a MUCH bigger lens and optical zoom. But I think it will be good enough for me, most people I know these day's just seem to skip digital compacts and go straight to Digital SLR's instead and STILL use the auto modes

The older phone cams used to be good, before they went mad with megapixels, i used my K750,K800 & c702 as main cameras, they all did ok i only really take quick snaps anyway nothing artistist and great, the k750 pics were very detailed & sharp. Camphones and compacts are a bit alike both use small sensors image quality manily depends on how good the processing is, only compacts have cdd & not cmos, the lenses on compacts aren't really that big and some are of really poor quality with bad barrel disortion, probley why alot of people do just buy SLR's. |

The thing you have to remember is that "Sony" and "Sony Ericsson" are two quite different things. Sony Ericsson are a completely separate business and they're expected to fend for themselves independently of both the parent companies, so SE get nothing from Sony for free - they even have to pay each time they use the Sony brands like Walkman and Cybershot. As far as a component like Exmor is concerned, SE are just a potential customer of Sony's, just like every other manufacturer. If it makes commercial sense for SE to use Exmor in the Satio then they may use it, but they aren't going to get it handed to them on a platter and Sony didn't design it specifically for them either. Whether SE use it depends entirely on the price Sony are charging, and the usual cost/benefit analysis in terms of the impact on manufacturing cost (and thereby profit margins) and what advantage, if any, it will give them in sales.
